Hi Lymers,

Just wanted to ask how is Rocephin billed to your insurance when you go into the hospital for your treatment??

Also, do they give you a supply so you dont have to go in twice a day??

Myself, and many others, have a PICC line installed at the hospital, then we give ourselves the rocephin once a day into that line. There are visiting nurses who come out to help you the first time and then once a week to change the dressing and check it out. There is a specialized kind of delivery pharmacy that delivers the medicines and supplies to your house once a week. You keep the weeks supply of rocephin in the fridge. This system is used by other sick or elderly patients with other illnesses. The insurance company preapproves doing this, the nurse company and the pharmacy company bill them. The rocephin and other injection supplies are billed like other prescriptions you would bey, and I guess covered at the same rate/deductable, but this varies with ins companies, so read your policy.

Here in Santa cruz area, Advanta Care does the pharmacy end and Visiting Nurses Assoc, VNA, is one of a few that does at home nurse care.

I did my own infusions daily. Once a week I would go to my MD's ambulatory infusion center. I would have my bandage changed, my line flushed, my blood drawn and would pick up my meds and all supplies. That was billed directly to the Insurance Company.
