I'm doing B-12 shots but my sister is giving them to me. For convenience sake, I'd like to do it myself. Where and how do you give them. I get 1 a week.

I, too, would like to know the answer to this question. I know there was a post a while back on this but I could not find it.
I have just stopped doing the B12 and need to start again. I hope I can give them to myself.
I will watch this post for answers. It could be tricky though when we are "rifing"

I give myself the shots and have for a year..very simple...I use 1ml 26 guage intradermal rig you can buy at the pharmacy. I inject it into my rear thigh area after rubbing the area lightly with alcohol.
Just grab the fleshy area there pull it a little away from yourself, poke and inject slowly, pull out and press with alcohol dipped cotton ball for a minute...done. happy jabbing!

Draw imaginary lines: horizontal and perpendicular through one of your buttock - left or right. In that way you have one of your 'cheeks' divided into four parts. Do the injection always to the upper - outside part. This part is the safest as there is no major blood vessels or nerves to damage with the needle. I did this with the bicillin shots..the buttocks injection.
So, this is good. I can do it with the B12 also. Thanks

I don't know about shots, but I have been taking sublingual b-12 under the tongue every morning. Is that something you can ask the doc. about? The kind I bought was TriVita. It's b-12 and included in it is b-6 and folic acid. Have been on it for 2 mos., don't feel any different, but I'm sick. My hubby, on the other hand, is like a new person. Lots of energy, happy and lively in the a.m., totally great for him. I take it cuz I have to think it's gotta be good. Just a thought.

I get B12 and Magnesium IM inj's 3x wk in the rear, by my wife. The nurse told her to picture a clock, in the upper area, and alternate between 12 & 9, 12 & 3, 6 & 9 etc. So far so good. The magnesium particularly help me with the muscle twitching and cramping.
Good Luck!

I've been giving myself B-12 shots for several years now....I take 1 ml 2 or 3 times a week.....I use the small 1 ml needles and give them in my legs.......
The best place is about 2-3 inches up from the knee-when you sit down just relax the leg and make sure you don't give it too high up the leg and hit a muscle.....
my daughter is an RN so when she comes by I let her give me a shot in the arm or hip just to keep my legs from getting sore....
I have very thin legs and it doesn't hurt at all if you give it in the right spot....it's very safe and convenient not to have to depend on somebody else to do it....
good luck.......try it......you can do it too.

I've been giving myself B-12 injections for about six weeks now. I do them three times a week, now built up to 10,000 MCG for each dose. I do them in my thighs, alternating between thighs and between areas. I do the same as with the buttocks, divide thigh into four quadrants - upper outer, upper inner, lower outer, lower inner (probably not techincal names or anything, but my names). When I know where I'm injecting it that time, I set myself up with the shot (make sure to get air out of it), clean the area with an alcohol swab, gather the area into a bunch (you can also spread the skin out), and inject at a 30% angle to my skin to make sure it doesn't go into the muscle (not that it's dangerous if it does, it's just supposed to be sub-Q). Then I massage the area for a few seconds with the alcohol swab.
I haven' t had any problems with it so far and I'll be doing them for six more weeks to decide if they're helping (so far they don't seem to be). I'd suggest getting a nurse to teach you how to do them just to be careful.

I inject 1 cc of B12 daily with Insulin Needles. They are so tiny & it doesn't hurt. My B12 says on the bottle IM or SC (subcutaneous), but my prescription says use insulin needles so I give it SC in the top of my arm.
I get the B12, insulin syringes & alcohol swabs all from Costco which was cheap. (I don't know if Costcos are national)
Even if you don't have a membership in Costco, anyone can use the pharmacy because it's federally regulated.
For my fried nerves, it was very calming. Healthy people usually get super energetic for the day.
I believe any person with depression, insomnia, pain or neuro problems & that's just about everybody, should at least get their levels up.
Here's my favorite article below which convinced me to ask for them. My first LLMD did not prescribe B12 (I asked for it) and my new one prescribed them. I see how much I missed by not having them.
The woman tells her psychiatrist she thinks her depression is related to vitamin deficiency & he says, "you're just trying to get out of the "Real Work" of your therapy."
Anyway, it might be good to also take Folic acid capsules because B12 can mask a folic acid deficiency. (Very cheap stuff) You'll often find B12 & folic acid combined in a product for this reason.

I started with TriVita's Sublingual B12 and liked them. I would prefer them over the shots but insurance pays for the shots.
I signed up to be a business associate with TriVita so if anyone is interested in trying the Sublingual B12 a try, let me know...no charge on the first order.
I also tried Trader Joe's Sublingual B12 and it did nothing.
I took two tablets in the morning with both products.
