does anyone know anything about individual insurance plans? would they accept someone with a preexisting condition, ie lyme? or would pursuing this avenue be hopeless?

I've had a great experience with Healthnet, but don't know if they're anywhere but NY.

some insurances do, many don't. it is important that once you get insurance that you never have a LAPSE in coverage. always have continuous medical coverage of some kind.

have you researched state plans?

many people end up getting health insurance through a job. of course they are sick so they quit shortly after and then pay for cobra. it is very expensive to pay for COBRA. some insurance coverage require 12 months of continuous coverage in order to waive the preexisting condition.

i am not sure what your income is, but many states offer health insurance plans through the state. you have to qualify based on income, etc.. you could call them and inquire about preexisting condition rules.

i do not think it is a hopeless cause. definitely something to look into.

i wish you the best of luck with everything.

take care of yourself.
