I've had a doozy of a head cold all week - and it's not getting better.

last night was by far the worst. I simply cannot breathe if I am laying down - and I kept coughing over my own sinus drain - tell me that don't hurt.

the doc ixnayed the Nyquil but frankly I don't give a ^^&*( anymore. tonight I am taking it - I got next to no sleep last night. I'd LOVE to call in sick today but I don't want to piss off my boss, or, someday REALLY need a sick day.

she said "just brew some hot water, and put your face over it, or stand in the shower, and you can use nose spray.

well I am here to tell you all of the above does &*^%-all. I also gargled with hot salt water last night - nada. that helps for about 5 minutes.

what is the worse case scenario for Nyquil, with all the other drugs I am taking? I'm on mepron which is tough on your liver so I am sure that is the main reason she says no. will I go into a coma? will I die? will it cause brain damage?

had I been taking nyquil I at least would be getting sleep and you can't tell me that won't make me heal faster.

and what the *&^%$ is up with getting this sick on all these $%^&* drugs? don't they give you a major dose of ABX when you get sick - that's what I've been on for 2 months almost now.

ARRRRRGHHHHHHHHHH

FG, hang in there..Have you considered allergies? Why not try some benadryl just to see if if helps..

Also there are some saline nose sprays that might help..But some are not good for the long haul.

A visit to the Dr to check for sinus infection, etc. might also help..

I have recently found out about Oscilla..It is in health food stores and is for the flu..I have also found some relief for regular junk with it..It is little white beads that come in glass vials..You put a few under your tongue..Not sure how good it will be for others..Just an idea..

Good luck. lymemomtooo

ummm your on abx's right ? This was one of my herx's symptoms after acheing for a few days than whaMo sever headcold it lasted usually about a week then would dissipate I figure its the bodies way of dealing with excess toxins.

ps my Doc told me to take benydril I didnt though I took nyquil and dayquil. But dont take them anywhere near abx time 2or3hrs before or after.

nyquil has benydril in it thats what he said but also alcohol but in little amounts.

more than likely it is a virus. Anti-biotics dont work for viruses. Anti-virals like olive leaf extract or lauricidin help and of course rest. Glad you got some finally!

I am sorry you feel so rotten.

When I first started treatment for Lyme,I was hit with the worst ever cold.

I wanted to throw in the towel and give up.

I took Sudafed and MucoPhen(I think it is called(.The muco, helped to dry up my sinus trouble and helped with the head pressure.

You can by this over counter now.It was a lifesaver for me.

Chicken soup and lots of water too.tea,etc.

It took me about 2 weeks to finally feel somewhat better,I think my body was clearing the critters away.

Take care.P.S.Your cats are beautiful!!!What are their names?

Vitamin C does wonders for me. I take it until I'm at the start of diarreha then you have to back off.

I've also heard echniacea and goldenseal but haven't tried either one of those.

Also, cold snap (buy at Vitamin Cottage or Whole Foods) works well but have to take at the very beginning before the full blown cold hits.

Nyquil and all over the counter cold medicines made me feel worse and did nothing.

Hope your feeling better soon!
