My son came home from school last week with a 101.5 fever and a headache and just feeling loousey. Lasted 3 days and he seems ok now. He has lyme and being treated by the good Dr. J.
My daughter started with a fever now and it is very high. 103.5 and general achyness, teeth hurt, soar throat and cough. She is also being treated by Dr. J for lyme.
Do you think this is the flu? any ideas on what I could do for her besids the fluids, and cold remedies?I was thinking of giving her lauricidin. she is miserable. I am not speaking to their peds as they discount the whole lyme treatment even tho both kids are positive. I guess we need to wait and see how she does. thanks pattiecake

Hi, sorry to hear that your son is sick. It does sound like the flu to me. It is going around here.
My sister's kids all had it..they do not have lyme. They all had the achey muscles, sore throats, headaches and high temps. 103 +. I also have the flu right now on top of the lyme. Fun.
The only thing that helped me is sleep...lots of it. I hope your son feels better soon.

I'm also in the same situation as you, pattiecake. My daughter's pediatrician is more than angry about her Lyme tx per Dr J. and so I stay away.
BUT...if my daughter had a very high fever and I really felt the need for reassurance from a doctor that she was okay, I would take her to our pediatrician anyway.
Yes, I would have to listen to the lecture about her Lyme tx. Yes, I would have to endure a very awkward appt with the ped. Yes, I would have to avert my eyes to avoid the nasty glares. Yes, the tension would be thick enough to cut with a knife.
Still, my daughter's health means more than any of that to me. So, I guess my point is, is that if you really feel that she needs to be seen by a doctor - if her current condition is scaring you - I suggest you take her to your ped anyway. UNLESS the ped is posing a threat to your daughter's Lyme tx that is (i.e., actively trying to interfere with Dr J's tx).
It does sound like the flu to me. And, with that high of a fever, I'd be alarmed too. If it hits 104^, I'd definitely take her to see your ped. I don't think any ped would turn away a sick child who is in need of BASIC medical care.

well I have gotten her fever down with otc meds and she is drinking lots of fluid. No diareah or vomiting so I am going to see how it goes. I would never hesitate to get help for her if needed. I will see. Pattiecake

Pattie,
Whenever I feel a cold, sinus or flu coming on, I take Echinacea and Olive leaf extract. I don't know if you can do this while on ABX so make sure you check with your Doc.
I swear by this stuff. I pop two Echinacea immediately, at the first hint, then take two more later in the day or night. I throw in two Olive leaf extract capsules which make my nose run like crazy. LOL
I keep this up until the symptoms leave which is generally a day or two. Our whole family has done this for years, and it really helps to keep these nasties away.
