Well, I've read some good things and some not so good things about this abx....I personally had some worries initially with the quicker heart rate and that gulp of air intake some of you have experienced.........

However, because of my body mass(big boned hard headed polish/italian body at 270lbs)and the fact that I have seen some positive results at the 800 and 1200mgs daily dose....I decided to go for 800mgs twice a day or a total of 1600mgs.........two days into it just a small headache the first day and nothing the second day....

I add 500mgs metronidazole on weekends even though the Ketek is reputed to deal with the cystic form by itself......
I will only be able to do this for about 20 more days as I can't get enough of the Ketek at the dose I will be taking it and who knows if I will even be able to tolerate it at this dose for long.......so far so good.
I'm pushing the envelope cuz in the past when I've had good results of any kind with other abx's I followed the ducks advice and only did what they told me and I'm still stuck with this persistant crud.....sooooooo

wish me luck you guys and gals........zman

Make sure you talk to your LLMD about this and regular bloodwork to be safe.

Ketek hit me like a ton of bricks, wow, you're dose is a doozy!

Tony,

I understand your frustration with not getting better yesterday..... been there.... done that.... we've been at this for 6 years and counting on!!!!

BUT - whose the doctor!?!?!? Him/Her or you!?!?!?! Please reread the two posts above this. Good advise!

Also, as you said, if you are taking more than prescribed initially, you won't have enough to get you through the month. It's better to take an even amount through the month than high (self prescribed) doses initially and then nothing at all!!!!!

Your doctor may even refuse to work with you if you don't take your meds as he-she orders!

Now where will that get you!?!?!?!? No where fast!

Tony, you're taking way too much.

I found it to be terrific when taken with a ceph abx like omnicef or ceftin, and useless when taken alone or with flagyl. Maybe you could lower the dose to normal and try a combination instead?
