I have been suffering from joint pain for nearly 15 years. I have TMJ, scoliosis, and recently plantar fasciatis. I have had two sever medication induced hives in the last couple of years, and have been tested for lupus. I also have noticed that my mental function seems somewhat impaire. My memory is poor, my concentration is poor, my attention is poor, and my emotional state varies.

I had a tick bite in my early teens that left the "bulls-eye" shaped rash.

I can't seem to get a doctor to check into ALL of my symptoms. I turn to the net all of the time, usually when I feel miserable (i.e. sore back, sore hips, sore feet)

Any help would be appreciated.

Good evening Jennifer,

Welcome to LymeNet!

All of your symptoms sure are consistent with Lyme disease, and when you stated that you had a bull's eye rash, well, that pretty much is a clear diagnosis. The good news is that you have come to the right place for help...we will do all that we can to get you headed on the road to recovery, OK?

Goodness, you have been dealing with this for a long time, haven't you?
It isn't uncommon to not get the answers that you needed from the general medical establishment. Many docs are unfamiliar with the symptoms and proper treatment for lyme. What you really need now is a thorough examination by a qualified doctor who specializes in Lyme.

You can hop on over the seeking a doctor section and post there. Someone will get back to you shortly with a name of a Lyme Literate Medical Doctor (LLMD) soon.

Here are a few new member links with information to get you started. It is so important that you try and read all that you can in order to educate yourself. We have to become our own best advocates for proper healthcare.

Please let us know if there is anything that we can do!

My very best,
Melanie

You need to find a Lyme Literate Medical Doctor, (LLMD). Go to the Finding a Doctor section under the Flash Discussion and someone will reply back to you. Be sure that you put your email address in your profile so people can reach you with doctor contact info.

You may not test positive to a lyme western blot test since it seems you have had this for so long. A real LLMD will clinically diagnose and treat you.

Because you have had this for so long the initial reaction to the antibiotics that will be be perscribed to you will be severe (your current symptoms will increase or you will feel like you have the flu) but that only means the borrelia in you are being killed off. Be sure you are tested for co-infections especially babesia. Most people who have lyme have babesia, and most of the good LLMDs will treat you for this as a matter of protocol.

Keep reading as much as you can on this site, and try using the search function on this site. That is how I found most of the valuable information that has helped me. There is alot of good medical information on this site, but you have to look for it. Learn as much as you can about this disease, it will be one of the best things you can do to help you through this. It will take a very long time to get better. I have been on abx for 10 months now, and I only just got lyme last January. Eat good things, do not each any sugars and reduce your carbohydrates, this just feeds the borrelia. When taking abx take lots of acidopholus, very important to keep the good flora in your gut that the abx kills.

I know I am getting a little ahead of things seeing how you have not even found a doctor yet, but I wanted to give you some tips that help me when I first went through this. Also, this disease is sexually transmitted. I got this from my husband who was bit by a tick a few months earlier.

It can be all very overwelming, but you will get through this and you will get better. Just find a good doctor and stay the course.

KH

WELCOME To LYMENET

Here's more goodys! A typical response to newcomers.

Hi and WELCOME! Get a LLMD or at least Dr that is willing to learn about lyme. Borrelia Burgdorferi is a clinical diagnosis, based on symptoms and on your response to treatment. Good Luck, bumpy road ahead.

Post for a LLMD in Seeking a Doctor. Ps remember I am not a Dr, just a fellow sufferer.
