MyLLMD has suggested I start IV Antibiotics. I am on a 6 week waiting list.In the meantime I am having a neurologist take a look at my CT scan. I am just curious as to what he will tell me. When I lost 80% hearing in my right ear my ENT told me after $ and tests that it was because of my age or heredity. I am 48!!!! No one in my family ever had a hearing problem so I looked farther since I had been diagnosed a few months earlier with Lyme. The ENT also acted a little put out because after I took him some info I had found about tinnitus and a possible Lyme connection, he just smirked and said oh yes you are the one that likes to self diagnose. I got my records and headed to a LLMD in Huntersville,NC. Thats is where I am now. Trying to decide about the IV abx or not. It seems scary. I am not sure any studies have been done on the long term affects of these abx and side affects. I have maddening tinnitus in my right ear. I can't sleep good at night. I am often fatigued and do just what I have to do. I am so brain tired of reading and searching trying to get an answer. debbie

When I first started treatment for lyme I had horrible tinnitus too. That did go away while I was being treated with oral antibiotics. I also have done IV antibiotics, but not because of the tinnitus. I don't know why your LLMD wants to treat you with IV versus oral, but I would suggest talking more in depth with him about your reservations. Maybe he can clear up some of your questions. Good luck. I'm sure you will get lots of good advice here. Cathy

Hi poodlegirl,
I had real tinnitus in both my ears...for a while there I couldn't really hear anything but the ringing or buzzing. It gets better though, hang in there. I'm glad you are seeing a LLMD.
So far I have not had to go on IV and treating for co-infections has really helped me a lot. I have made the most progress with treatment for Babesia.
