Hi all

just curious...

I've been on mepron and biaxin for 2 months. so far absolutely no liver or kidney probs - holding very steady.

I have been a very good girl. prior to this, I'd have a glass or two of wine each week on average. usually only if I went out to dinner with friends. Maybe a beer if I had wings. accent on the "one" because I don't like feeling full.

how much danger will I put myself in if I have a glass of champagne, or have one beer if I go out for a burger... or a glass of wine if I go to an Italian place?

I know docs have to tell you no no no, and I've been good and I won't, but if I do?

You should under NOI circumstances have alcohol after you have been diagnosed with Lyme...until you are clear of all infection, and treatments. (Alcohol actually increases the Bb's resistance to heat and fever.)

I did not start to show some serious improvement until I changed my diet and nixed the glass of wine with dinner. I had one glass of wine with Thanksgiving dinner and my Candida came raging back the next day. Bleeeeee!

Better to just say no. Sorry. I miss a glass of nice Cabernet sometimes but, the feeling goes away quickly.

My husband and I are quite the social butterflies and I must admit I have been naughty and actually washed down pills with alchol!

I ALWAYS pay for the next few days and who knows, perhaps that is why I am not recovering as quickly as I'd like to.

BUT you have to live a little!

I drink red wine. I take zithromax.

But if you are taking Flagyl you will get sick, sick, sick.

I have cut back tremendously since I got lyme last January. For the first 6 months of treatment I did not drink one drink. After that I have had a few drinks here and there over Thanksgiving and Christmas. Usually just one or two glasses of red wine. My doctor said it was OK to drink one glass of red wine everyonce in awhile. However being on the cautious side I abstained for at least 6 months.

Just be careful, if you almost have no symptoms (like myself) I would say it is OK but in extream moderation. I have never had a problem with yeast as some do, I think everyone is different. My husband who got this first drinks beer every week now, but during the begining of his treatment he had no alcohol. I would say I have 2 glasses of wine a month, on average, not much!! But like artbyjesse says ya still gotta live a little!

I've had Lyme so long....

A little alcohol vs. a little more lyme or , a lot of yeast?!

No way for me!

I can find much better ways to relax or have fun.... just my opinion

I have a friend who drinks several drinks a day and has lyme. There is NO WAY he's ever going to get well if he continues to do this. And I do expect him to continue.

He knows the score and won't stop, even tho he says he CAN stop. He's sick and I'm not. I've had Lyme twice as long as he has, if that makes any difference. [may or may not]

I think one of the big issues besides what Trout said is that you will have yeast bigtime and that in itself can keep you from getting well....plus you won't know if your symptoms are from yeast or from lyme.

You really need not to drink if you are serious about getting better. A couple drinks may seem no big deal but it only retards your recovery. I think you know this. I found out I did have some self control and was able to give up booze during my treatment. This is from a guy who never met a beer he didn't like. Best wishes

Okay, so where can a person find out more about yeast infections and what to do about them. 35 days into doxycillian and I'm waking up with tremendous gas every night. Sounds like that it might be a yeast problem. Thanks.
