Has this ever happened before?
I thought I was immune to all the paranoia going on around here lately - but I feel like I'm beeing sucked in.
"Whooooossshhh" - you hear that - that's a big sucking sound. I'm officially paranoid right now and I'm not even on my pain meds...perhaps I should be.

This is weird. The "1" who relplied is listed as unregisterd, so technically they shouldn't be able to post at all. Definitely a glitch of some kind.
Don't know how you managed to find it - BUT there are a few posts that are missing! (This is where we need dramatic music: "da da duuuuunnn"!!!!)
After my post when I return from ER - Wildthing posted about being smart enough NOT to go to ER, and then a couple of others posted too.
Even Lymiecanucuk's post is now missing. I went back through my email where I was notified that Lymiecanuck had replied to the post & clicked on that link and I still can't find his/her post.
I KNOW I'M NOT CRAZY here people! Well, let me rephrase: I know I'm not crazy with regard to this particular incident!
Too freaky! We need a detective on the case. Anybody here named Scooby or even Dooby, maybe? (Wait - someone named Dooby may be TOO paranoid to crack the case. Some of you may not get this joke.)
But I'm still freaked despite my incredible sense of humor!

Hello DR.W
This site did some wierd things in the past when there were too many postings. If you look at the date and time, it looks like the first entry was a null field entry that was picked up by the data base engine. It probably appeared before yours as a null field for the date and time would show up as the base year as defined in the program, which obviously has to be prior to the date and time you made your entry.
If there was actually a message in the odd posting I would be concerned, but with nothing there I would assume that it is a bug or corrupted data base entry.
Someone running the web site might want to run a check disk as well as a data base integrity check. These odd occurances could be a sign that cumultive errors are creeping into the database which may lead to eventual data base failure.

I'm with Daivid. The most likely cause is some kind of error. Unfortunately, there is not enought money or tech support to keep the site running perfectly at all times.
These kinds of things have happened before. Sometimes the whole site goes down for a few days.
You don't need to add this kind of concern on to what you are already handling. I would presume benign causes, and try to recollect the info you need.
It sounds like you've got a good handle on this case - even though I really didn't understand most of what you wrote.
You're a computer geek, aren't you? (Know I say that with much affection.)
OK - well glad it's probably just a computer glitch - but want you to know you're ruining all my paranoia fun.
(I've really been feeling left out of all the paranoia stuff...mostly because I didn't understand it...I was hoping the paranoia would help bring me in closer to the fold! )
What will I do with my time today now? I certainly won't be watching football! gag.
Thanks for potentiall cracking the case, 007!

D.R. Wise***,
been here a long time myself. Seen my share of "weird" stuff going on on this board. It goes in cycles. Right now there is a poster who came in and blustered himself all over the place.
I just spent the last hour reading all his s*hit on sci med lyme or whatever that board calls itself, and it was an eye opener. At first, I thought, oh what an a**hole, but as I read further along in the posts of his, and others, I had to wonder if the guy was actually right. And that he just used profanity and name calling as a means to vent his frustration.
I'll never know. But what I do know, is that you have NO need to get anxious over your posts disappearing. Minocat's post about Thomas Parkman shows 2 replies, yet when I clicked on her entry, it only showed her original post.
I do believe that the moderators are NOT able to keep up with what should be normal everyday etitquette (MY PERSONAL OPINION)on this public message board, in that, they have allowed you to keep the word "ass" attached to your screen name here on this board.
As I've gotten older, and hopefully "wiser" I find that I take natural offense to profanities when they are used in such a way that when you want to read something in public, but find obscene language used frequently, that that is tolerated.
Again, my opinion ONLY. I have not found that obscene language is tolerated here in the recent past, but again, new moderators, maybe too busy to pay attention.
I acknowledge that you have explained yourself all over the place on your blog, and I do actually find myself reading your blog with much interest, but personally, could do without all the language coloring. At least here in Lymenut land. Which is what Areneli terms us diseased people here on this message board.
Untwist those nickers and go on to the next! Julie

First, thank you for your comments with regard to the missing posts, etc.
Second, as I am kind of foggy today, I haven't determined if you were purposely trying to offend me or not.
Since I have just taken some more medication, I'm sure that I will relax and realize you were just exercising your right to your opinion, and you just wanted to provide me with the info that in previous times profanity was not allowed on this board.
In my defense - I have not been aware of the board "rules" since I have not taken the time to look for them or read them, as I am busy trying to stay alive.
Since the email I received last week from someone (whom I will still protect their identity) - where I was basically admonished for my use of profanity - I have tried to at least censor myself to the best of my ability while on the boards.
If you will notice, on the board, I am trying to keep my @#$%ing profanity to a minimum and use symbols as much as possible, so as not to offend the easily offended.
However, I think most people realize that when I say @#$% - or even %^&* that I am using my little dirty words. I'm just sparing the eyesight of those whom are easily offended from actually viewing the letters that combine to form the horibble @#$%ing profanity.
As I've mentioned in my blog, it has never been my intention to offend anyone on the board; and I am just expressing myself in a way that I enjoy the most: a little spicy.
If I am breaking rules of this board by my use of language, I would hope that moderators would inform me. If I need to change my name to DR Wise*** to be in adherance to the rules, I will certainly do so.
What I do find interesting is that while you profess to be older & "wiser" and are now becoming more naturally offended to profanity & colorful language, I'm wondering why YOU use it in YOUR post with regard to that "a**hole's" "s*it" you were reading about over on sci med lyme.

I'm not sure which one of us is older or "wiser" (and there can be several definitions to that word) - but I just find myself at a stage in life that, although I don't purposely want to offend people - I also don't give a flying rat's ass if people CHOOSE to become offended by something as insignificant as a word. I'm busy trying to breathe, and fight bacteria that is continuously p*ssing me off!!!
Just so you know, I'm not experiencing any Lyme rage right now, because I am fortunate enough to be medicated. Do you have ample medication?
Julie - I'm not trying to start any Sh*t here - because I'm generally a peace loving gal. I just felt like you were calling me out & even though I try to be nice, I'm also genetically pre-disposed to be a real b*tch when necessary. I felt the need to respond...so I did.
I certainly hope I did not lose you as a reader of my dumb a$$ blog - as there are so few of you. But your objection to my colorful language - yet your simultaneous interest makes me wonder if the few readers of my blog are the same kinds of people that slow down to look at a mangled train wreck.
Perhaps I should re-evaluate my writing style.
Not happy to have LD, but glad to be a "LymeNut" as you say,

Actually, I think the BBS takes out some of those words. As an example, (please forgive the colonial french, THIS IS A TEST AND ONLY A TEST of the EBBS) **** as in shet but with an I instead of E probably reads as "****". So as we see, this is a politically correct Electronic BBS

I was not trying to offend you.
<<>>>>
Yup, that's my angle. Sorry to make you feel you need to be medicated to digest my comments!
<<>>>
There is no disclaimer, or set of rules that smack the new people in the face when they first dive in on this board, at least not to my knowledge, since I signed up 4 yrs ago. But, that is not to say that the board rules do not exist. In times past, there was a moderator that took a lot of time and care to delete offending posts. That is NOT the case right now.
<<>>
I can't be sure, but I think I've noticed a decrease. But then again, I'm got Lyme brain too, unmedicated at that! So, my perception may not be at the top of my game.
<<>>>>
We're all adults here, and I'm sure that most people do realize what you say in the paragraph above. I PERSONALLY DON'T FIND IT TO MY LIKING. And in this public forum, where some type of politeness seems to still exist (unlike sci med Lyme whatever board) I would love to see it kept that way. That to me, means No Dirty Words. Thank you!
<<>>>
As I'm sure we're all aware, it's Your Blog, and you can say whatever you want. and we can choose to read it or not. that's the American way, and I like it like that. But, you are also the only one posting on your blog (as far as I know) so I believe that makes it a different type of public forum, than say, this one.
<<<>>>
I"m no moderator, or whistle blower, but I simply chose to air my opinion on the un-symbolized words you choose to post.
<<<>>>>
Ok. I had to think about how to respond to this. I did NOT intend to offend you, I like your spicy style. I wanted to post that I did not like the obscene language, at least on this board, which I read frequently. I can choose not to read your blog, if your colorful spicy language really makes me wanna puke, but on this forum, I come here to read all manner of Lyme info, and I include your info in my reading because you have got a great way of expressing yourself, very articulate, on par with Thomas Parkman, who I also enjoy immensely. That said, I did not mean to make obscure fun of you by posting the obscene symbols, just thought it would get my point across to YOU in a way you could relate to. That's all.
<<>>>
I don't consider words to be insignificant. I used to use colorful, spicy, obscene language daily, myself. I had kids, and I felt it was inappropriate, especially after they started to copycat my language when they both first started to speak. It just gave me a "heads-up" and I guess I felt it was time to grow up, and try to be a good role model. That said, I'm not saying you're not a good role model. My opinion, my gut, and the feedback from other people when they heard me say obscene language, told me that it was time to hang up the language that I used so commonly, and it took awhile before I could clean it up completely. But, for the most part, I do not use obscene language in public. At home, that's a different matter.
<<>>>
That sounded like a cut to me. But that's ok. You've made yourself clear.
<<>>>
Me too. I normally don't go to such lengths to respond, but I'm not into the Superbowl, so hey, here I am!
<<<>>
No, you did not lose me, I"m probably gonna read it as long as you write it. I was trying to tell you that I just don't like to read spicy language in a public forum where it is not the norm to read that type of language. If you are here for long, you'll see that yourself. But your blog, well, no one can tell you what to do there, as I'm sure you're well aware. I don't view your blog as a train wreck, I find it incredibly entertaining, and spirited, in that you write about your experience with Lyme so well, and in such detail, that I can't help but read it. I've always been a lover of stories, and read voraciously as a child. That is why I'm sure I'm so enthralled by your account as a person stumbling along the Lyme road.
<<>>
No, your style seems fine.
<<>>>
I'm kinda happy to term myself a lymenut too. Makes me smile.

I just edited my very long reply to DR Wisewoman. Since I normally do not cut and paste, or underline or make my type bold, or any such fancy schmancy pants type adjustments to my posts, what happened when I went to edit her post into my reply was that it cut out her words completely and left these symbols <<<>>>.
I'd say s*it! but then I'd be such a hypocrite, wouldn't I? Sorry to make such a mess of my post, I was trying so hard to make it readable, and instead it came out like s*it!
Ok. Enough venting frustration. I've posted more in the past few days than I have in 4 yrs so I think it's time to lock my brain up again until it can come out and play nicely.
Sorry DR-I tried. Hope y'all can piece my post together so it makes a bit of sense, but then again, who has time?
Take care everyone, and don't forget to pass the Doritos!

Ok, Wise A$$doctor, oh, sorry, got the name wrong, Dr. W.A., you'll love this. As I was skimming this post I started using the wheel on my mouse instead of the bar on the side. Well, suddenly, the print started getting larger, then it was smaller and back and forth. I finally realized that when I scrolled toward myself the print on the page would get larger and when I scrolled forward the print would get smaller. WHAT??? I have NEVER had that happen and it never even occured to me that such a thing could happen when the wheel was scrolling. Somehow, you've managed to send your ghost to my machine. Oooohhhoooohhhooohhh! (insert scary music)

You definitely do NOT need to change anything about your writing style on your website, Dr. WA (and I don't have a problem with 'ass', it's just too long to write out - although it would have been shorter just writing it out vs. explaining why I shortened it).
If someone does not like your writing style, then they don't need to visit your website. Duh. Any fool would realize that.
I mean, if you don't like strawberry ice cream, then would you continue buying it??????
I have to say it's a generation thing. I have no problem with cussing. I cuss like a sailor (per my dad). My husband cusses. My brotherinlaw cusses. My sisterinlaw cusses. My sister cusses. My brother cusses. Every single one of my friends cuss. EVERYONE my age pretty much cusses unless they are extremely religious....
Now, I am a Christian and I know that cussing isn't the most Christian-like thing to do but, hell, I could be doing much worse things.
Cuss words are just slang to us. When we cuss, it's a form of expression. We don't mean the 'f' word when we say the 'f' word. It can mean that we're pissed or excited or sad or happy or shocked....Same thing with all the other cuss words.
Now everyone has their own way of thinking when it comes to this. I have no problem saying the 'f' word but I will not say the Lord's name in vane. Does that make any sense? Probably not. Whereas, my husband thinks it's hilarious I feel that way as he sees no problem with it.
Now, my parents, my aunts, my parent's friends all have problems with cussing. They think it's extremely wrong. Hence why I think it must be a generation thing.
You can't make everyone happy. And I don't think anyone has a right to judge someone or expect someone to change their writing style. If you don't like it, then don't read it....
I mean, would you write Mary Higgins Clark if you didn't like her writing style or if you felt she used too many cuss words, etc? Would you actually expect her to care, much less change her writing style to appease you? No, I think not.

Note to LymeinME: I make me laugh, too. Perhaps we're on the same medication?
JustJulie: How are we going to have a good ol' fashioned cyber cat fight if you're going to act all nice?
I hear & acknowledge your feelings with regards to language on the board.
As for my blog - there is a place for comments underneath each of my posts, and you are free to leave small posts there. My mom just discovered it & is probably gonna wear it out.
I thank you for comparing my "articulate" style to Thomas Parkman and I feel flattered by that. I do, suggest, however, that you might need to offer Thomas an apology by making the comparison.
As far as you wanting to sometimes puke when reading my writing - may I suggest suppositories? I prefer Phenergan. Sometimes my writing makes me want to puke too, so it's OK - no offense taken.
It's OK Julie. We're OK - right? That little smilie guy is not winking - it's me after you gouged out one of my cyber eyes...but I'm a forgiving person - even though it's been clearly established I'm not exactly polite.
OK twoAngie: Back off girlfriend! I've only got one cyber eye left & I can't handle blame for your computer ghost. Try me again tomorrow after I've had time to lick my wounds and recooperate from today's events.
Please note that I did not use any amount of profanity in THIS post nor did I use any of the @#$%ing symbols, either.
In fact, I feel like I'm going through some kind of profanity withdrawal, and now I'M feeling like I could puke.
Has anyone seen my suppositories?
(See - I can STILL be offensive even if I don't use profanity! It's my "gift".)

DR---just an endnote to this discussion. There used to be (still could be for all I know) a poster here on this board who went by the screen name "Poochini". We all guessed who she was after she'd posted for a bit, and she backed up and took all the telling info off of her screen name info, and kinda went into lurk mode.
Anyway, just to elaborate (beat with a wet dishrag) on how much I like to read a good juicy post/story, whenever Pooch would post, I'd just gobble it up like a frozen Scharffen Berger bar (I'm on Jenny Craig, and I miss my chocolate). I LOVED reading her posts because she slung her words around in such a fashion as to keep me reading down to the last drop.
I mean, her style was to die for. No wonder she was doing so well out there in the world with her writing. It showed here on the board.
That is kinda how I relate to your writing, here on this board, and on your blog. I soak it up like a sponge, because I adore that type of writing, and with reading being such a rare commodity for me these days (Lyme related, and kid-no-time-related)I find that when it comes to scintilating text, I'm all for it.
There, tried a bit harder to 'splain myself. Love your writing. Really. If I hadn't have been in such a dang hurry yesterday, I woulda even posted such on one of your threads.
Sleep easy, and I know what a Phenergan suppository is!!! (Nurse in my former life).
