They come in various forms:

help-rejecting complainers
thinly veiled suicide threats
interminable nya-nyas
know it alls
people who throw "hissy fits"
attacks on LLMDs
attacks on other members
etc....

One common element is our massive response in terms of high numbers of postings. We don't have to do that. Their antics have nothing to do with medical questions or our recoveries and we CAN ignore them into well-deserved irrelevance.

Just a thought. Maybe we can get back to focusing on why we are here.

David

Nicely put.. I'd have a couple more categories to add but that would probably put me in the "hissy fit" bucket.

I instituted my own one strike and you are out policy, otherwise I could feel a hissy fit coming on.

Offenders don't get a second chance with me, I just scroll on by. Not that this is a great loss, but maybe if enough people do this, the offenders will figure it out and change their behavior.

How about criticizing and restricting other members in their quest for health, extorting personal stories through emails, reposting post fragments to different forums?

I've been reading that guy's weblog or whatever it is at (http://groups-beta.google.com/group/sci.med.diseases.lyme).
I find it interesting that his sole purpose seems to be to make fun of people on this message board. I'm sure he has some point somewhere, but it is tough to even read it with his attitude.

I'm sold. This person is not on this site to get better or to help people, he is here precisely because he wants to still things up. I was willing to give him the benefit of the doubt before, but no more, I will pass his posts right by. What he wrote on the other site is definately proves this.

I have been thinking about this and want to modify what I said previously.

A certain amount of bellyaching is justified when you are in such a horrible situation....can't get treatment, insurance won't pay, have permanent damage, getting no support from friends/family. And surely we wouldn't want to cut off potential suicides from any source of support?

All things considered, more conflict and upset is not in my best interest (or anyone else who has this lousy disease), so I still plan to bypass people who are trying to cause trouble, etc.

It would be nice if people who are doing well would come back and encourage us now and then, otherwise the forum tends to dwell on the negative, more so than maybe the actual picture justifies. A little balance would help.

hey guys

I got some rope, or maybe we should get a big wood stake and some gas.

All we got is a bunch of sick people here. The ones that aren't sick from lyme probably have something else wrong.(including non-organic brain disease... these are likely the guys you are refering to.)

The people that are trouble makers or complainers maybe have no place else to go....so a little slack would be in order, however, those who try to make this place like sci.med should be turfed out or better yet, have their IP address listed in each and every post in order to allow a certain level of paranoia to set in.

Also interesting in that one attack stops and another starts.... maybe it has to do with the change in the solar flux....

I don't come here enough to follow the every day activities but from what I have seen there is not a lot of basis for some of this.

Makes one think how much of this type of complaining, whinning, nastiness, know it all stuff a "duck" has to put up with and how that affects their judgement????????

bye for now.

Please bare with me just in case my question seems a little bit naive..I am finally starting to feel good enough to get a handle on LD and co-infections..

I know that this person has been taking our posts and putting them onto yahoo google..I am sure my post will end up there shortly..

but is there any harm when something like this happens? it seems like this person just causes problems for us and then uses us for the enjoyment of others on another website..

besides aggravating us..can this somehow undermine all the goodwork people are trying to do in order to get this disease the respect it so rightly deserves from the medical community?

Thanks Cathy

Ya know I have had my share of "losing it" moments. I'd like to take this opportunity to thank all the people that have used there experience with this disease that have helped me so much over the last half year.

I'm nothing in the way of a doctor but I've tried to do the same if I saw a post that has anything to do with anything I've experienced.

God knows where I'd be if I didnt find this site. So few people I know have this disease or want to listen to me whine about it. (Even in my own family)

Just a thanks again to the "true blue" people that have helped me and come back to this site regardless of their recovery. Its so much easier to recover and completely forget about everyone here.

nicely put dullchime..

if it weren't for this site, i may have never found a llmd...i never even knew such a doctor existed..i probably would still be shuffling (literally) from specialist to specialist without any idea what was truly wrong with me..

and in terms of support and encouragement, people here have been wonderful..Lymeinhell was the first person to email me(if you are reading this julie..i had a different logon name..i had to change it when my computer crashed over the summer)

the first email she sent me gave me hope..made me laugh..i remember when she said "if you start to herx really bad..email me anytime..and i will talk you down.."

thanks
to all my lymenet angels..
