So I just got some soy protein thinking that it would help me in my quest of eating a high protein no carb diet.

Ive been doing some research and it turns out that soy does all these terrible things and our bodies dont digest it>

I was just reading some of Dr. Weils comments on his site about soy and he says that all the negative press is unfounded.

They are blowing it out of proportion and that soy -is- good for you.

Go figure. Its the battle of the camps again.

This is for sure though, any protein is better than carbs for this illness.

FWIW: On another list, I read that before he retired a few months ago, Dr. H in Houston was telling patients to avoid soy because the ketes thrive on the manganese.

i'm just as confused as the next person on all of this stuff.

I gobbled down soy for a long time thinking that was my answer to healthy protein, then I read enough brad press that I have moved away from soy products.

I am not clear enough to relay all that I have read, but several of the key points for me were that: soy contains a kind of estrogen, so women consuming a lot of soy may effect hormonal levels; small amounts of the consumable products are made from lots of soy product laden with herbicides/pesticides, so unless the soy products are organic they are not so healthy, especially for those who are chronically ill.

Paisley's info is also what I have been taught.

Some soy is okay for men, but only if organic. There is no organic soy in this country, per my doctor. A lot of soy is not okay for women as Paisley said.

The only product from soy that my doctor uses is Meso - but strictly organic.

I have decided long ago to eat a moderate amount of all the things - good and healthy -
and as clean as possible and as the pocketbook allows. If it is organically grown, doesn't mean it has not gone through several processes afterward that affect the product in a negative way. It can still be called grown organically, but is no longer the healthiest food after it gets processed, is inside the bottle or can.

So we eat one slice of wheat bread instead of half a loaf, with fresh butter and jam (that I make myself using little sugar and lots of pectin which is a great metal absorber).

I don't believe in depriving myself of everything. It's not good for the soul.
I avoid junk, additives, preservatives, and coloring.

Ive decided that the benefits outweigh the risks right now.

Anyway the whey protein has alot of other junk in it. Most whey also contains casein which is the product in milk which increases allergies and mucous.


Not good.

I eat quite a bit of soy (milk, tofu, and protein powder). I can't eat gluten or dairy, and I'm not wild about meat or eggs, so my diet would be somewhat limited without it (and lots of other beans and legumes).

My feeling is ... and it's just my personal opinion ... that there are too many conflicting opinions for me to be convinced soy is bad for you. Before I started eating it regularly (i.e, when I went off dairy two years ago), I didn't really eat it much at all. Now that I do, I've never noticed any ill effect.

But again, that's just me.

Given the fact that Lymies seem to be at a higher risk for some sort of thyroid dysfunction to begin with, I would be concerned about the regular consumption of anything with potential goitrogenic properties. But that's just me.

My old LLMD who is semi-retired now had told me to avoid soy, as it contains maganese (sp?). Supposedly borrelia uses this in some way that was not explained to me.

again, the benefits (we are getting in clean protein with no sugar) ourweigh the negative effects of carbs and sugar.

Sugar feeds the infection!!!! Soy doesnt
Protein has normalizing effects on blood sugar,. Sugar doesnt. Sugar robs your minerals and enzymes out of your body to try and deacidify them.
Soy doesnt need this.

The sugars and carbs feed so much of the infectiion.,,and with them releasing neurotoxins and endotoxkin it should be ano brainer why we cant speak and out, and why our face looks hungover all the time..

but we never drank and alclhol.
acetaldehyde thats what the bugs produce and we want them out noW!!....

Studies show that they use carbs and low body temp more then maganese ,,,

magnese is not magnesium right..

Soy is no good, especially now.

One, it's one of the most allergy-inducing foods around.

Two, it's GMO'ed to hell, especially in the US (read: Monsanto).

So, it contains brazil nut proteins, which are also allergy-inducing. Allergies aside, many soy products have also been modified genetically to contain bacterial genes, and certain insecticide genes, not sure which. I think I've also read about salamander genes being used.

Of course in this country GMO'ed foods require no labeling, so we don't know that we're eating a lot more than soy when we eat soy.

There's a lot of literature on all this and articles frequently appear in alternative medical journals on the subject.

Soy is also high in arginine, which is food for the herpes family of viruses. So if you've got EBV (had mono?), CMV, HHV6, HSV1 or 2 or any others, soy will foster their replication. Otherwise, arginine is touted as being great for the heart.

I'm anti-soy myself, mostly because it's been so manipulated genetically and it tends to be full of "genome bits" that no one should be eating.

Wow, not what I wanted to hear.
What if it is non GMO.


I still wondering if the benefits outweigh the risks. WIll it build the body? Is whey really that much better? Because whey is terrible for allergies.

SO for I have heard that high protein is good...but

Soy is bad
Whey is bad
Eggs are bad
Chicken is bad
FIsh is bad and
Red meat is bad,


ITs all bad!! I should just drink distilled water>??

How can I eat high protein if I dont dont
eat it?

Anti-Biotics are also poisons but the benefits outweigh the risks.

This is what Im looking for,, some leverage.
Im sitting here at work and the 4 huge PVC vinyl blinds are making me dizzy, giving me bad vertigo and my ears and throat hurt.

But I have to work this job right now because of the insurance. $250 per doctors visit. $300 a month on anti-biotics.

GiGi is right...the source of the soy is extremely important. In other words, WHERE it is grown is critical...that it doesn't absorb toxins as it grows.

Soy is electromagnetically balanced. This is a good thing.

Yep, you very well might "herx" on this.

Lots of acids/protein + few minerals-> hydrogen.

IF you can get hydrogen INTO the cells = very good thing.

Hydrogen INactivates PFK, an ENZYME that Bb is "dependent on".

A DOCTOR said the keets thrive on Mn? Whoa. Find another doctor!

Mn subs..in a jam...for Magnesium.

Please read my Updated Nutshell post. Pay close attention to (1)the Romanian abstract and (2)what mineral Dr. Gary Kaiser says Bb uses in its enzyme reactions and (3) restoring what mineral/electrolyte...restored the "health" of our OWN ANTIBODIES.

This is the mineral that is being depleted. Since it is needed by us to make ATP - energy for every cell, controls the enzymes and hormones (proteins), is needed (along with Calcium to make HEALTHY antibodies), and is capable of DNA REPAIR...when this mineral drops fast...we're in trouble...big time.

A high protein/acidic diet...will further deplete your minerals. This is the danger of the ketogenic diet. Be careful.

Yes, ketones also INactivate PFK...but making a LOT of hydrogen is safer, IMO.

NO carbs? Whoa again. Complex carbs are okay. NOT sugar...by itself (if it is "attached" to an acid, then okay. Our WBCs and our brain cells need glycogen. We have to avoid the insulin SPIKES that pure sugar causes. Complex carbs do NOT cause an insulin spike...a situation Bb loves because insulin ACTIVATES PFK.

The thymus is the "seat of immunity"...here's the impact on estrogen and that gland (involution means shrinks). The thymus gland normally shrinks as we age, but other things kick in to prolong our lives.

From my Updated Nutshell post:

``Previous research suggests that the diminished bioavailability of zinc in older mammals may represent one of the major factors for the involution of the thymus and consequent cellular immunological dysfunction.

The influences of a variety of other hormones on the involution of the thymus have also been characterized: testosterone, estrogen, and hydrocortisone treatment results in ***marked involution, cortisone and progesterone administration have a slight to moderate effect while use of desoxycorticosterone has no effect.

Whatever happened to all things in moderation. I grew up an Adventist. I am NOT one now.

They were the driving factor behind the soy revolution. I grew up eating soy meats since Adventists were also the original vegetarians, since the early 1930's I believe.

They also strictly followed the Jewish diet, no shell fish, no meat unless it chews its cud and has cloven hooves, no fish unless they have scales and fins, ect. NO caffeine, processed sugar, processed grains, ect. It was a pain in the a**.

I believe with all my heart that it is important to NEVER cut out a whole food group. Unless you have a genuine allergy to it, not some half baked theory.

I grew up with a religion touting meat was bad for you and a lot of people got really sick from lack of protein. It's hard to get enough from a vegetarian diet, and yes we knew how and all the right combinations we invented the whole process.

Carbohydrates are important too, vital to our mental and physical well beings. The whole no- carb, lo-carb dietiers failed to mention all the people who literally wound up in the hospital with a ketacidosis, and they didn't have diabetes. This is a potentially fatal condition.

Too much of anything is bad for you. Too little is bad too. Common sense and a little self control is all we really need.

If it seems I am less than patient with all these veggy, no carb, no meat, pick your poison diets, I am. Been there, done that, long before all these new crazes and I WAS NOT impressed.

In a nutshell...most soy protein in the US is not fermented...it is also put through a process where it come out as isolated Soy which are bodies don't know the first thing about what to do with it...as well as Trevor pointed out Soy is GMOed to death and for this reason along is bad for you. You want an eye opener go up to www.thefutureoffood.com and read or better yet order the movie. It is scary what Monsanto is doing to our seed sources as well as how they are sueing our farmers when they really have no right...it is unbelieveable and we all should be fighting them.

In Asia - soy is not GMO soy, it has been naturally fermented and they enjoy it almost as a delicacy - they don't eat huge slabs of it at a time like we do or drink it as milk.

I honestly believe that the soy craze here in the US and this belief that it is good for us has been marketed so that money can be made on the huge amount of soy that is planted to regenerate the soil during crop rotation. They have to do something with it...if Americans will pay for it then they don't lose all the money on the crop.

I did have a herx type reaction the third day on the soy diet. I felt woozy and dizzy and had some pain return. This has since gone away.

I have added (some) carbs. Some nuts and oatmeal.

I must add though when I eat sugar I feel terrible. The carbs feed the bugs. Why would I ever want to eat them untill I feel better.

SO you say that carbs are essential for brain function, but not when all the carbs I eat are feeding the bacteria and viruses!!

In this instance the carbs are actually causing brain damage and inflamatorry response due to all the toxins.

The point to me is clear. Carbs are not good for me.

Only very very little, a piece of a pepper or some salad. Bread and sugar and fruit is out.
