I finally had my first appointment with my LLMD on Friday. He agreed with me that Lyme is definately a possibility, but wanted to test other things as well. I should have the Lyme results back in about 2 weeks. He's also testing for heavy metals and other things.
I got a call back from them today that one test result was in. He tested me for mycoplasmas, because he thought it might be why I was diagnosed with CIDP at first. The nurse said they were extremely high and I'm being put on antibiotics ASAP. I'm picking them up later. He's putting me on doxy and another drug (sorry, forget name) that helps the antibiotics work. I'm to be on them for 28 days, depending on the results from the lyme test.
I'm so glad that he's already found something and has a treatment for it. Mayo said they don't know what I have and how to treat it, so I'm glad I have some answers already.

What strain of mycoplasma were you dx'ed with? Depending on the strain, different abx should be prescribed.
Was your test an antibody test or a PCR?
Mycoplasma is a lot like lyme, it most likely will take more than 28 days of abx to get rid of it.

Sorry, I don't have that much information on it. I just talked to the nurse for a short time on the phone, and didn't even know to ask these things. I trust that he's giving me the right medication though. He's up to date on everything, and is a doctor that believes in "alternative" ways of looking for and treating things. He said he's going to a conference on Lyme next week. He goes to them often and is always reading new information.
As for the antibiotics needing more than 28 days, I'm sure he knows that. He just wants to start me off on the 28 days first, since there are other tests that we're waiting for results from (namely the Lyme test).
Thanks for the information though. I've been looking around all over the net as well. I knew nothing about mycoplasmas before they diagnosed me with it.

You know your LLMD, I don't.
My first LLMD did not know how to properly treat my mycoplasma infection. I also assumed that she knew what she was doing.
After a second opinion and mycoplasma DNA showing up in my spinal fluid, I learned that hard way not to assume.
