I've only been on it for a week - not looking for a miracle - just wondering how long it took for you to start seeing some improvement. I've been on orals for 1 year and now the IV - I hope this will do the trick????

A friend of mine has been on IV Rocephin for 5 months now. She sees more improvement as time goes by. She says that she was Herxing every time she hooked up so she started doing it only at night and now she sleeps through all except the worst Herx. I think it's very individualized --- how long it takes to see results --- just like everything else seems to be

I started IV Roc on Dec. 7 2004. It is still a rough road. I had a few good days last week. My LLMD says I am on target with others who have such long term Lyme (since 1994)
Good luck and take care of your self.
Blessings,
Marblenose

I've been on IV rocephen for a week now also. I thought I had a small herx about 4 days after starting. But it was only for a day. After I do my treatment, I do feel like I can sleep, maybe that's some type of herx. I don't know. My insurance will only cover for a month, hope I see some improvement by then, so doc can tell the insurance company that its working, and they will approve longer.

I guess I'm allittle disappointed that it hasn't knocked me for a loop.

I've been on IV rocephin for 93 days (November 8th). I had to come off for a few days here and there due to white blood cells drop, sodium drop...The last week and a half I mentally feel almost human (back to myself). Today, physically, my heart was fluttering nuts and this was the first day that light really bothered me. Last night, I was dizzy and then the heart started with the fluttering. Different physical stuff starting that I never had before - I worry about that, but it feels good to mentally feel back to yourself. I don't talk about it too much because the way it comes with lyme, it goes just as fast. Maybe that's not the attitude to have, but it's happened so many times as everyone on here can tell you. I'm on oral zithromax 250. I was on orals for a year and a half before IV. I had a picc line in March for 27 days. Had different rashes and reactions to picc and rocephin back then.

Hope things improve soon. This disease is so up and down - I learned to take every advantage of a good day.

Good luck and I hope you feel better soon.

Cigi

It took 5 weeks for me to start to see improvement on IV Rocephin. Weeks 3 & 4 were total hell for me. I had heart problems and hallucinations. You would have to scrape me off the floor to get me up. I though I would die for sure. But, it did get better and I continued on for a total of 12 weeks the first time.

I did a second round for 16 weeks until the vein in my chest collapsed. The second round was better because I knew what to expect.

Try not to get discouraged when the big herx hits, if it does. I had a heavy load to kill so, my first herx was scary. Never felt so sick in my life.

My son is on his 9th week. Actually, had one or two halfway decent days this past week, so we're hopeful.
