Yes..Does it still count if we used it for medical deductions on income tax? However we only estimated so am sure we didn't count everything.

In the apst 5 years I have lost $350,000 in gross income plus loss of pensionable service and benefits.
How cna you tell I have lmye?
However there have been positive benefits.
I have been home watching and available for my autistic son. He is 7 now and is high functioning autistic, just doesn't understand social cues or situations.
My wife also has many symptoms of lyme and we are thinking of having her checked by a llmd. I have an appointment with this llmd today and will be starting on abx tomorrow.

Betty,
When I read your post, I thought of Bernie the Attorney with the CFS Association.
He helps with the wording for SSDI I believe and has a wife with CFS/fibromalgia who is President of the organization.
Since I have had two others who came down sick at work the same time I did and who received workmen's comp and medical retirement with a CFS/fibro label....it might be the door to knock on.
I am just hoping I haven't missed out because I went for getting my health back instead of focusing on getting workmen's comp and medical retirement as they did.
I had no idea this thing would be such a big battle.
Bernie's number is 617 227 2020.
He also can be reached via the web site for CFIDS.
There also is an attorney who helps lyme patients with obtaining SSDI but I don't recall who that is.
You may all ready now these things. Sorry, if I am being redundant.

I lost a beloved social crowd of 100-300 people, give or take a few stragglers, who were the best friends anyone could have. I used to race home from work, never knowing which one of these fabulous people would be free to see a movie, or a play, or have dinner or just a warm conversation over hot coffee.
I lost the love of my life, who moved to LA, offhandedly asked if I'd move there, too, then got set up on a blind date there and married the person. Can't say if the story would be different had I not been disabled for four years, but you never know...
I lost an entry-level job as a news assistant at the Wall Street Journal, which already felt like family, and I lost many members of my real family. But I freelanced from home, and got into journalism school. If I hadn't risked doing that, I'd have nothing now.
I worked for years as a graveyard shift secretary as a law firm, since that was the only job I could handle with Lyme, bart and babs. That panned out to about $13k a year after taxes; an urban cub reporter makes between $30-50k.
Every penny I had over the past four years went to rent, bills, school supplies, and medical expenses. My parents helped out by buying life insurance with their life savings. My father and I cannot have a convesation with his bitterness spilling out.
Sorry, just kidding. The real answer is "no" so far, but it is touch-and-go each day. I'm waiting for the day when my boss calls me into a 4 hour meeting and I start muttering gibberish and pass out...

I stopped working when I had my son.
I tried to go back but I just couldn't - both physically and emotionally.
I now realize that partly it had to do with Lyme - that is why I was so tired, sick, in pain, anxious, etc.
I don't think I could go back now even if I wanted. Too stressful for me. I feel so bad most days that I'd be fired for taking too many days off. My brain doesn't work right and I have no memory. Some days I can't even drive - and I definitely cannot drive at night do to my bad night vision.
Heck, I don't think I'd be able to be competent long enough for the interview....
So, I am missing at least $2k a month for not being able to go back to work.

Well I have only seen 4 "no" answers so far. I would think that it would be virtually impossible to have Lyme and not have it affect your income. I responded "no" but the truth is that I've gone from a "top performer" to a "barely hanging on". Although I have not lost or quit my job, my performance due to Lyme will definately affect my long-term earning potential.
