I do. I've been on the Diflucan protocol for weeks now and continued to take Nystatin...have never had a problem taking the two together.

But, I don't know if it's the thing to do, so can't say one way or the other.

Others will come along with better answers.

Thanks for the info lifeline. I definitely started taking both anyway. My yeast is insane and I feel like its rotting my brain.

I have been so impatient, I just want so bad to feel normal and I WAS for a while; but now its a whole different battle.

My tongue is raw and white, I cant think straight, I cant speak properly, and my friends are always looking at me funny.
(not that I care)

thanks for the opportunity to vent

HELLO!
Yes you can take them together but you shold not stay on the difulcan indefinetly and get you liver levels checked after you are on it. I am not a Dr. and I am just suggesting not telling you to do this. It is only what I was told.

Also do you watch your diet? Eat any fruit or sweets??? Stop if you do and watch your carbs. If you have thrush and it sounds from your description of your mouth you do, then start using Listerine 3X a day and keep it in your mouth for 30 seconds. Brush your teeth with it and then keep it in for 30 seconds at least 2oz. of it gargle. Brush your tongue and the roof or your mouth. When you are done eat some gooooooood yogurt not sweetened but good organic plain old yogurt. I had a severe thrush and yeast infection I had sores on my tongue and mouth and got a bad sinus infection from it. I did the regime I told you about and got rid of it. Diet is very important. NOOOOOOOOOOOO sweets!!!!!!!!!!! No NONE! I know it is hard but you can do this. I was a big sweet eater and I have not had any since last Oct. It does get easier as you go but somedays I would like to just eat some ice cream and then I think about those sores and say no way! Hope this helps.

I am not a Dr. and this is not medical advice but just a friend trying to help.

My LLMD had me take the diflucan right before the nystatin

He would not let me take them together

I believe both drugs can hurt the liver

He has me getting labs done every 2-3 wks to keep an eye on my liver

I only have a 10day supply of the Diflucan and I'm going in for a follow up after.

How long did it take before you felt any real relief? Ive gone 8 month now with no probiotic and finally stopped my abx so hopefully it will shorten my time.

Ive started to feel a little something but not much.

thanks for the responses.

NO probiotic for 8 months? How did you survive that long? I would have died from the yeast, I think!

This may take awhile.

I've taken Nystatin for 4 1/2 yrs now. It does not affect the liver.

I've taken Diflucan many times in conjunction with the Nystatin. If you take alot of Diflucan [or for a long time...like several weeks] then you really do need to have bloodwork done to check the liver.

chime,

This is just my experience with Diflucan, and I'm not advising it for anyone, but I took Diflucan (l00 mg) for eight weeks straight, twice a day, because of the German Diflucan protocol, which I was trying.

Most folks do not agree with that, but I was off abx anyway but knew I still had Lyme, also had yeast, and I felt I had nothing to lose, and perhaps, something to gain.

It made a huge difference in my symptoms, still have some, but less.

I also just had Lab work done after the protocol was over, and today talked to the nurse to see what my liver enzymes were, and she told me everything was normal.

So, luckily, the Diflucan did not cause a problem. I think for some it does, for others not. Best to get the liver checked while on it, however.

Good luck.

I was only on 200mg a day of Doxy for 8 months and basically the entire time I was watching my carbs trying to lose weight to no avail.

Just recently I let it all go and didnt watch anything, especially when I started feeling bad.

Lyme symptoms really were disappearing and the symptoms I was feeling creeping up was the yeast.

I kept searching for more symptoms for Lyme and they just didnt exist.

EEHhhh just one more thing..

I did notice however that my glands are starting to settle down a little, so i guess that's a good sign.

Sometimes this seems worse than the Lyme..

Heh heh, Yeah right..
