I have been on ketek for a month now and also started the salt/vit c protocol....About 2 hrs after taking the Ketek I get dizzy, a little agitated, darkness under my eyes, and a little confused.

Does anyone else experience this....I know dizziness is a side effect of the drug, but I suspect this is also liver related..ie my detox abilities....any suggestions?

L.

I got really dizzy and cloudy when I first started taking Ketek. I started taking it before bed, so I was asleep when that hit. Oddly, after a few months it gave me insomnia so I switched back to the morning. No more dizziness.

Are you getting your liver and other enzymes checked regularly? A couple of my enzymes were high, I cut back on some drugs and completely cut alcohol out. The enzymes are back to normal now. I'm still on Ketek.

Limelight,

Are you possibly on a SSRI or other antidepressant?? My daughter went thru the bame problem with Biaxin and when I had pharmacist research Ketec it was metabolized thru the same P450 Chytochrome pathways in the liver which cause poor metabolization.

Severeal drugs that are metabolized in the liver whe used at the same time can cause the serotonin syndrome or serotonin toxicity, which is agitation, sweating, chills, mania or drunk like feeling and shivering. You do not need to have all the symptoms to have it.

Ketec is metabolized 50% in the P450 liver system and therefore can cause these symptoms. This can be fatal and can have a cumalative toxic affect.
Look up on your search GOOGLE engine and look up Drung interactions P450 and you will see alist of overcounter and RX drugs.

HI All,
Thanks for your responses...

auntybiotic, yes I am on an anti-depressant and am trying to increase it but am also having problems with it...it is an SNRI serotonin norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor - called Effexor....I have always had a problem tolerating any kind of antidepressant.... thanks for the suggestion I will look into it.

I have been on Ketek 800mg for only a week, and haven't had any side effects, except for herxing.

I noticed on the warning advice label that it should not be taken with grapefruits or grapefruit juice.
