I have a sister-in-law that is going to have surgery on her gallbladder Wednesday. I am trying so hard to stay out of her business but I hate to see her have an unnecessary surgery.
She has tons of symptoms: Gallbladder of course, rib pain, sinus problems, ear problems, smells bother her, noise bothers her, and she says that she has ringing in her ears due to the audiologist plus other symptoms that I can't remember.
I have tried to tell her over and over again that she should be tested for Lyme Disease and she just refuses to believe me. I think she thinks I am an idiot.
Anyway I can't make her believe me about any of this Lyme stuff but I wanted to give her one more chance to convince her that this could be related to Lyme. She said that she had a gallbladder attact today and of course went to the doctor. She also says that it is the change of life.
I have been told that I should just concentrate on myself and I probably should. I am so very hard headed.
Can anyone give me advice on what I could say to her (other than nothing) to convince her different.
Thanks in advance.
Maria

You can lead a horse to water...
But it is illegal to force their head down in it till they agree to do something.
I vote toss her in the creek... naked.. till she listens.
Oh and by the way, I got responses from two other senators.
I am on the ball.
Get some rest!

Any chance you can at least convince her to have the gall bladder checked for infection? There could easily be Lyme or other infections living in the gall bladder causing the problems.
It will be post surgery, but may help from there.

If the gallbladder surgery is not emergency surgery then get her to read some information. Tell her to humor you at least. What does she have to lose, except a little bit of time that could save her quality of life.
There are so many who suffer from lyme that have been put through surgeries only to find out it was the lyme in the first place causing problems...I know one personally and look at the writer Amy Tan, they took out one of her adrenal glands before they figured it out.
Just let her know you care and while she may think you are crazy remind her that you know a lot more about lyme than she does (in a nice way)...
Tell her that your friend on lymenet with a bachelor's in English has helped diagnose three people including herself when over 40 doctors collectively couldn't figure it out.
Good luck...I know it can't be easy standing by watching this go on...

She may or may not have Lyme but you can give her my story if you think it might help.
Three years into symptoms and before my Lyme was diagnosed : RUQ pain (but not associated with food) back pains, rib pains, stiff neck, crunchy sounds at base of skull, easy bruisability, GERD like pains but not associated with food, sinus problems, ear pains, twitches & fasciculations, odd neurological sensations, feet pains, chest banding, sleep disorders, etc etc...I didn't know what kind of doctor to see first or next. I made out my will.
For GB problems they usually do an ultra sound to see if they can visualize any stones or sludge...mine was clear. Then they did a HIDA scan which measures GB function & my ejection fraction was very low so they took out a perfectly good GB needlessly. It took me a little longer to find out I had lyme disese...and that probably the nerve root involvement along my spinal cord caused a lot of nerve problems to the GB and abdominal wall. I lost faith in the medical profession after that. Quest
