Hey gang,

My doc recently asked me to add 30mg of Zinc to my daily regiment of supplements to help my body recooperate from the last bout with Lyme. After searching on the web and on the forum here I'm quite confused about how to properly take it.

Lots of places recommend 2mg of Copper to go along with that amount of Zinc supplementation to avoid an imbalance or copper deficiency.

I also need to take into consideration that I'm taking Spectracef once in the morning and Doxycycline once in the morning and once at night. I'm reading different things different places though about what's okay to take with what when.

The doc told me taking the Zinc with the antibiotics is fine as they won't interfere with each other but I've read otherwise.

I've also read not to take zinc and copper together, but that some supplements contain both, which would seem to be in conflict to me. And of course there are things that say not to eat certain foods within a certain amount of time for the best absorption of Zinc.

Then there's calprotectin, which after reading dozens of different references about I understand the basic functioning of and theoretically how findings about it could be in conflict with taking Zinc for my current recovery from Lyme, but I still have no clue as to what it comes down to in practical terms.

Since my last treatment my bacteria level has stayed low enough that I'm barely in the positive range anymore on blood tests, but physical/mental recovery has been very very slow.

Given that I take the Spectracef and Doxycycline (along with Vitamin C, B50s, Co-Q10, and Omega3 supplements) on a daily basis could anyone give me some advice on properly taking the Zinc (what to take it with and what not to take with it) or if there's any reason I shouldn't be taking it at all?

Any help would be greatly appreciated even if it's just pointers to where I can find some good up to date info on the subject. Thanks...
