I started IV clindamycin 5 weeks ago, I think.

Been really good abt sugar and carbs for a few years and take good quality probiotic in huge amt.

So 3 weeks ago started getting weekly acne outbreaks on my head, neck and face. Very sore rapidly developing, fevery type of acne. Used to get this years ago before LD dx and would get put on tetracycline for it.

Called LLMD's office thinking my one day off af clinda each week was making me feel more infected, and may be opening the door for acne.

Was told that the abx in such a strong dose could create breakouts, or it may be yeast.
Suggestion was to increase acidiophilus...already getting 60 billion organisms /day, or try nystatin.

What is nystatin?

Anyone else with this kind of acne experience?

Any other comments...Thank you so much

I've taken Nystatin everyday for the past 4 1/2 yrs. Don't panic. It's non-toxic and works mainly in the gut.

I believe everyone on abx should be taking it. Look it up on one of the search engines.

Be careful not to take liquid Nystatin. It contains sugar. [Can you believe that?] And I hear the powder is nasty.

I take the pill form and it's fine.

You might also want to switch brands of probiotic. That's something I need to do.

Ever since my surgery I've had some of the worst acne of my life. Back, chest and face. Also since starting back on abx the skin on my cheeks and forehead have dried out bad.

Could acne could also be toxins being released from your body as your IV meds kill the ketes?Could be good positive sign.

Looking back Acne was one of the first signs of lyme for me. When I was 12 I basically woke up with a very rare type of sistic acne-my dads family had acne so we just figure-runs in the family. I went on every antibitoic possible-but my face just kept getting worse- after 9 monthes my standford docs decided to put me on accutane. I started having major joint problems and started physical therapy in 7th grade. I played a lot of sports so we just figured I kept re-injuring myself. After the accutane my face was clear but throughout high school bc of random allergies I was put on pretnasone a lot which is an ance trigger. Ne wayz my freshman year of college I got broke out with shingles on my face and then right after it went away I again pretty much woke up with this horrible rare ance. My docs were so confused but this time they went straight to accutane with a combo of pretnasone because my face was so swollen. I don't really have ne suggestions for you-but I made it through it and my skin is great and u would never have even known i had acne. I can give you a great skin regiment-i have tried EVERYTHING! I have done so much research and I really believe in the products i use now! Let me know if u want ne info
By the way the ance u are talking about is called cystic ance and it under ur skin and hurts like hell but it takes a long time for it to come to a head-do not touch it! or u will get horrible scaring-

Best Wishes,
Lindsay
