I have had 3 sessions with a Chinese Herbalist/Acupuncturist and my elbows and knees feel better - not back to normal, but better than when I walked in.
While treating me, he would shake his head and say "blocked" everytime he would go to a new area. I don't know the science behind it, as Traditional Chinese Medicine has alot to do with energy flow, but apparently, when a joint seizes up, there is stagnant "Chi" or energy that blocks the flow through the rest of the body? That results in fatigue, chronic pain, stiffness.
It is fascinating to feel the results of this work, and gives me hope. Has anyone else tried acupuncture for relief of symptoms? I'd be interested to hear from you.

Hi- I have been going for regular acupuncture treatments since the beginning of the year and began because I had terrible low back pain (probably from the Lyme since I never had an injury). Within a couple of treatments the back pain resolved. I have since continued for other neuro symptoms and have found that it can really settle things down. Aside from the cost (since my insurance will not cover it) it has been a great help. I feel a bit less foggy, eyesight is improved again and I have renewed energy at least for a few days after treatment. I'd certainly recommend others to try it, wouldn't you? Glad to hear it is helping you as well. Take care. Lori

I've been going to acupuncture as an adjunct to tx now for about a year and 1/2 ...I highly recommend it. she is also a dr. of herbology so she makes me up a bundle of herbs every week based on my sysmptoms and to build my immune system and i brew them into a tea that I drink three times a day.
I credit her with getting me off abx and feeling free of lyme, bart and babs again...and staying well...but first you HAVE to kill the bacteria...
so i think it's a great adjunct to therapy , and to help build the the immune system..not to stand alone though..

My LLMD is an internist and also an acupuncturist in NJ. The reason he is an LLMD is because there were a great many people coming for pain relief via acupuncture, yet they were not progressing as they should have. That was when he started investigating the Lyme connection, and he has been treating Lyme aggressively for 20 years.

Yes, acupuncture is helping me soooo much...I think for me at least, Lyme disease is a disease about toxins...and if your detox organs or pathways are blocked or overloaded, you will have symptoms...and the acupuncture keeps the pathways open, or reopens them if they are blocked, keeps the Chi moving...who knows what...but it helps me tremendously!! I am a firm believer in acupuncture!!
Working with someone very knowledgeable and sensitive I think is crucial...as I have known some lymies who have had bad experiences with acupuncture...My practitioner is not necessarily Lyme literate (although after working with me for the past year she is well on her way )...but she is highly intuitive and cautious with me as well, so overall my treatment experiences have all been good.

I also just started accupuncture and have had two treatments. I feel so much better already. I think I am a believer. I will certainly continue to go. He has also given me a mixture of trace minerals to take and recommended something else called Life's greens. He says both will boost my immune system and increase my energy level.
