Just checking in to see if anyone has had success with Prima Una de Gato and what your experiences were/are on it. What dose did you take and did you herx? if you herxed, what was the herx like?

If you're going to try prima una del gato, 'Allergy Research group' is probably a good source-- still a little on the expensice side, though. It is likely to be very good quality, from my experience, and also from what I've heard. From feedback I've heard, cats claw derivatives such as samento or "prima una del gato" are probably worth a try. I took the raw herb. It may have helped, but didn't seem to stand out as remarkable. I don't remember how much of it I was taking- I may have been too conservative, since this was my own experiment. It was relatively early on in my fight with lyme, etc., also. I believe this is what the extract Samento is from.
Little personal experience with Samento to say anything.
From what I heard and read, many people did not take the Samento as suggested by the original instructions published elsewhere on the web, and consequently got some negative results. I apologize for not recalling the exact web address for the original instructions, but the original instructions seem critical for the desired result.
There are two main ingredients, POA(S), and TOA(S); the one is therapeutic and the other can be problematic. I don't know for the moment which ingredient has what property.
It seems that many also got good to very good results when using it according to the original instructions.

Yes, I've been using it with the IV. Try to use it 3X a day and I think it is helping. Had to work my way up. When I first tried it right after I woke up I was practically immobilized (had to change position due to back/joint pain) but now I'm up to the 3x/day. I've heard it only works on empty stomach though and there is a cheaper place to buy it. I think it is online-pharmacy.com or something. It's much cheaper. My doc recommends drops over tablets.

My alternative dr. had recommended the Allergy Research brand.
I have used the drops on and off, they are very powerful. At one point, I was able to tolerate 2 drops three times a day, but I herxed too badly and got off, haven't been able to handle it again.
The herx is feeling like you have been hit by a truck, and just want to lie there forever. There's no reason to bring yourself to that point.
You need to start slowly, one drop at a time in 4 oz. water, let it sit for a minute or two first. An empty stomach is recommended, but my feeling is any way we can best tolerate it is better than no way.

Hi WildCondor - I have recently stopped antibiotics due to very bad cardiac herx - while we are evaluating my heart and while I am off antibiotic tx - I have started on Saventaro - I am taking PhytoPharmica natural medicines - with no TOAs - The directions are one cap three times a day for the first 10 days than 1-2 caps a day after that depending on progress. Each capsule is 20mg. So far (three days on three a day) - I feel pretty good - no herx (don't know if that is good or bad) - But then again, the antibiotics are pretty much out of my system and they were making my life difficult...so, I'm not sure what's what. But, I'm back to exercising and I'm going to keep on them until when and if I must go back to antibiotics.
Hope this helps.

I've been on it since last summer. I take the Allergy Research capsules and herxed like crazy from the first dose. Had to work my way up to just to one. Once I was able to tolerate, much of my muscle and neck pain disappeared.
Been off abx since November and am now taking 2 capsules a day. And continue to improve. My LLMD wants me to go up to 3, as she's had studies where it also helps blood pressure, sugar modulation, and immune system building.

My experience with SAMENTO has been very positive. I started with one capsule (600mg), and worked up to 3 a day. I was on it for about 4 or 5 months. I then titrated down to one a day, and now I am off all meds including SAMENTO. I have been symptom free for about 6 months. I think I am cured!!!! But sometimes I fear it may re-occur, because I was symptom fee for almost 2 years after IV antibiotics, and then had a relaspe which lasted for 2 years. But I am hopeful, becvause I feel so good. Check out this website: http://www.rain-tree.com/cats-claw-capsules.htm We had been getting Cat's Claw from them (as per Dr. S in PA) but Jordan had to stop taking it, and a number of other supplements because of stomach problems. His results had been very positive up until that point. It is my understanding that this pure form of cat's claw is far more powerful than Samento, which Jordan had taken for about 6 months prior.

oh! i was just reminded! it is not known (studies have not been done to determine) if it is safe to give cat's claw to children.
i asked my dr about giving it to my kids and she said that it is suspected that it may stunt growth. the lyme disease itself has caused my son not to grow normally and he is on the short side, when he should be med to tall.
