Well as many of you know I have had a terrible skin condition from lyme. THought it may be morgellons but dont really think so as I have not visible fibers or bug like things but I do keep up with that board anyway as You just never know. THey are WONDERFUL people there also.

I have had many derms look at it and biopsy it and all come up with "ECZEMA" . VERY BAD at times. Just had a BAD BAD flare up when I got the flu.

Can anyone direct me to info on lyme and eczema?
thanks
patti

Hello pattiecake,

I couldn't find any literature on Lyme and eczema, but I thought I'd pass on my own experience.

Lyme disease caused me to have a severe allergy to dairy products. Once I figured out that dairy was causing my severe acid reflux and 100 percent eliminated it from my diet, my eczema disappeared like magic.

I have to follow a strict diet that includes inspecting everything I eat because dairy is hidden everywhere such as tuna fish, gum, etc.

If you also have digestive problems, then looking into food allergies might be a good idea. You might try eliminating foods that you suspect you might be allergic to for a couple of weeks to see if it helps your symptoms.

Of course, you'll have to learn to speak the language of the food labels in order to decipher the chemical names. The internet is great to learn about that!

Take care,
Ms. Myo

pattiecake, did your doctor (any) prescribe a cream for it? Where do you have the eczema?

I have a bad case on my face (eyes & chin)
I use good ole vaseline(sp?) other wise Eucerin is a good cream. mine will go away for a day or two then come right back. I do not know what causes mine so i can not avoid something i dont know of.

I hope you get some answers. Helen

I have this on my left hand...the stuff the va and other ducks gave me did'nt resolve the problem....they called it "contact dermatitis" in other words the ducks don't know.
It starts with a little white skin bubble then turns brown and then scabs up.

I had some erithromycin cream given to me for conjunctivitis and thru some on it and it cleared it up...but it came back.
Seems to ebb and flow with my lyme or abx treatments.
Could be dairy as I am lactose intolerant...have'nt had a screen for food allergies...
I have seen other folks with this skin condition worse than mine up in cleveland.
Don't know if mine will get worse but does'nt seem to get better either.
except for that time I used the eye stuff on it.
Sorry could'nt help more...It's possible that the abx's we take do away with some of the skins natural protectors as well which cause us to have erruptions on our skin.

Pattiecake,

I don't have what you're looking for either, but I was also diagnosed w/ eczema. I have a 'permanent' rash on both shins. It also sometimes appears on the front of both shoulders and on my neck, and just recently in the insides of my elbows. I've totally cut out dairy and gluten, but apparently, that wasn't the cause for me.

But I wanted to post to you about Elidel, which is a non-steroidal topical treatment. I had been using it for several months, and just saw a small notice in my newspaper that the FDA has issued a 'black box' warning for it. It is suspected of causing cancerous tumors.

And my doctor's office hadn't even received notice of this when I just visited them!

The manufacturer has denied that it's a problem. I've decided to stop using it. Just wanted to pass that on.
