So I just started Flagyl and the LLMD said to start a pro-biotic cause it can really cause loose stools.

I have been on BIAXIN 100mg for 6 months now with no probiotics and no Diarrhea.

I noticed that when I took the PROBIOTICS
I always got gas and an itchy bottom.

So now I start taking alot and I get gas and a very very itchy anus and diarrhoa!!!

I go off and feel better. Now I read that the probiotics can cause DIARRHOEA!

Whats the deal,, I cant tell if its the flagyl or the probiotics upseting my lower colon.

can anybody help???

I have similar symptoms with probiotics. Very itchy anus and diarhea.

I also take flagyl and biaxin and did not notice the upset gut, itching, until after I started taking probiotics.

Could it be the type or amount of probiotic that is causing the problem?

My LLMD said that he knew 4-5 people that have the exact same symptoms as me and he things its the same strain.

Interesting.

I too thought it was the anti-biotic but now I know its the pro-biotic!!!

Maybee Ill just switch to eating yogurt

Are you taking a good brand of sacchromyces boulardii? (That is, it stayed refrigerated while it was shipped and stored; is a known, and reliable brand) S. boulardii been shown in some well designed studies to help stop abx diarrhea.

Is there FOS in your probiotic ?(for some, causes gas and diarrhea)

The hubby found that Citrucel helped with the diarrhea.

Sorry, guys, that's all I can think of.

The diarrhea and itchiness could be yeast die-off. Are you doing a yeast free protocol (diet, nystatin, etc)?

If you aren't doing a full yeast protocol already you might want to consider it.

what to belive what to believe.

The LLMD said that if I had lots of yeast in my gut that I would have lots of gas before taking the abx and pro-biotics.

Every time I take them I get the same thing.
Lots of itching. Should I ween into it?

Go here:
http://www.sumeria.net/health/cadida.html

Get to the bottom of the page of the above. Looks like symptoms caused by yeast die-off.

Probiotics need to be taken one hour before a meal with a large glass of water. The water will dilute the stomach acids so they don't destroy the "good guys". Wait an hour before eating until the "good guys" reach their destination and set up "housekeeping".

Essential formulas and Primal Defense are 2 good probiotics. Other good ones require refrigeration. Not enough in (our) yougart.

Catch 22...lose some beneficial bacteria and electrolytes with too much diarrhea too fast. Perhaps slow it down a bit with OTC anti-diarrheal med.?

I have been treated since 2000 and have taken lots of different abx and Mepron. I have never had a problem and I could not survive without Primal Defense.

Scroll way down near the bottom of this page for a description: http://www.mercola.com/store.htm

Good luck! nan
