Last summer my daughter had a Deer tick removed by a doctor (within a few hours) and was prescribed one dose of ABX for prophylactic purposes. That's all I did, no follow-up test or anything. I can't believe I didn't do more, like have the tick tested, because I've been dealing with Chronic Lyme Disease for about the past 5 or 6 years. She's had no sypmtoms, no rash, nothing, but now I'm wondering whether I should be doing more to check it out. Any ideas? Thanks.

One dose? as in one pill? Is this man related to Bum Steere?

I have mixed feelings about this, but if it were my child I would want 4-6 wks of abx just in case.

Some would say that's overreacting......but you know what the alternative is! A lifetime of illness is not an option I'd want to take a chance on for my child.

Hope you will at least have her tested in a few weeks to see if anything shows up. Get Igenex to test her, not some lousy lab.

My recommendation would be to get your child to an LLMD (an ILADS member with an excellent reputation) to help make this decision.

Since you are in CT, you could see the best - Dr. J. in New Haven. I don't have contact info, but you could post in the doctor request forum or contact the local support group.

Yes, I'd get her tested soon also. You don't want her going thru what you are now.

Thanks for being a GOOD and caring Mother.
