I was told that four rounds, three weeks on/1 week off, minimum is required due to the Babesia life cycle.

I was treated for Babesia with Zithromax, 250 mg 2x/day and Mepron, 1 teaspoon (with lunch) a day for 6 weeks. My LLMD is Dr G in NJ (ILADS member). My Babesia titer returned to normal but to double check we are again doing a Babesia PCR and titer. Pat in Pa

9 months is what I've heard many E Coast docs are prescribing.
My LLMD wanted me to do 4 mos. He says not to take the one week break in between---that was the old protocol and they are having more success with no break between bottles.

I very much doubt that.
I have just finished 8 months of Mepron (taken with Artemesia and Biaxin).
The first 5 months at 10ml a day and the last 3 months at 15ml a day.

angie, suggest a minimum of 4 months (preferably 6months) at 5ml every 12h for 21 days then 7 days off. but my gunness, you'll never want to see or wear the c olor yellow or eat a banana for a looooong time. ping Posts: 1302 | From Back in TX again | Registered: Mar 2005

I just finished 5 months of mepron with artemisinin, and just added in ketek. On Lymenet's advice, will try to keep going for four more months.

Only if you are the luckiest person in the world. It took me months and months but I did get better.
