Hello all!
I am wondering about the eating anything with alcohol of any kind in it while taking flagyl. I know we are not suppose to drink any alcohol but what about sugar free ice cream with chocolate liquor in it and things like that. Flavorings etc. I have not had any but was wondering if you could shed some light on all this. Thanks! Blessings to all this glorious Resurrection Day! hugs

I drank alcohol many times with flagyl with no side effects. I use alcohol sometimes to reduce my worst symptoms and with lyme I have to drink very little to get relief (and intoxicated)and, I know of many others who do also but they won't say so.

The most common side effect from alcohol with flagyl is nausea and vomiting.

My doc said none, zip, don't even open a beer for a friend.

Besides, it's not good to drink if your trying to get healthy.

It's a liver thing. Good advice not to drink while taking Flagyl, although many do have an occasional wine or beer. The sugar alcohols used as sweetners and flavors shouldn't be a real issue, unless you're an even bigger glutton than I am.

Hi all: Yes it is a liver thing, my doctor told me not to even swish wouthwash around in your mouth, and it affects the liver as does tylenol and I don't know why but no grapefruit either. Thanks MrsSAM

I have never felt so sick as when I had a supplement that had alcohol in it after flagyl - I then read about the interactions. I haven't had that kind of reaction to flagyl since, but have been extremely careful about any alcohol.

Never knew about the other things, thanks.
