Does anyone know if my very sore strept-like sore throat has any connection to Lyme? I got it on ketek-400mg/day. It's a new symptom for me. Pat

Are you on other abx for lyme, too? It seems unlikely that you'd have a strep bacterial infection. But Keteck may not be bad to be taking- just be sure to schedule in acidophilus regularly! It is possible that the sore throat is a symptom of the lyme and/or co-infections.. For me lyme etc. caused some pretty nasty swollen lymph nodes, and at times I think I do remember my throat being a little sore. Strep infections make it REALLY sore... But with lyme you never know-- it seems to depend on what the chetes are finding to be easy target on a given day... It's also possible it could be a secondary viral thing. If so, maybe the viruses will attack the lyme too. Though it seems ublikely, that seemed to happen in my case. One possible explaination-- the viral infection gave me a high fever, and I have read that the lyme spirochetes may not do well in high-temperature environments. Saw local MD today, sore throat is thrush-3 days of diflucan before any more antibiotics. I was taking a high quality 14 strain refreigerated acidophilus.
