I am feeling weakness in my thumbs which has caused my handwriting to get worse and often I have to stop to regain the strength.

Is the a symptom that others are experiencing ?

/Lars

I would hazzard a guess this is one of many common symptoms...I had it. I continue to have interrmitant carpal tunnel like pains in the nerves of both thumbs and wrists...there's no damage there(other than nerves) but sure is painful.

Lars,

This could be caused by compressed nerves anywhere in the arm or shoulder. My wrist, hand, fingers and thumb all get numb, tingly, stiff or painful. It's all related to my thoracic outlet area, around the shoulder.

Lars,
I've been having problems with my left thumb since September, and my right thumb since December. It feels like I am losing grip strength.
I cannot open bags like potato chip bags, where you grasp at each side with thumb and fingers, and pull apart.
No numbness or tingling.

This might be a mild tendonitis, but it doesn't hurt except when I try to hold something tightly. I'm concerned that if it gets worse, I won't be able to hold onto a glass.

Hi Lars, yes absolutely. My thumbs are so weak that I cannot grip a credit card to pull it out of a gas pump, been like that for better part of a year, on top of that because those muscles no longer get nerve impulses the muscles have wasted completely away, my hands are basically skin and bones on the backside. The inside of my hands are still fine?? Go figure and I have no symptoms there.
