Most of my symptoms are right sided. My right seems inflammed, swollen, sometimes visiby. With treatment I began to feel like I was comming back into balance and my right was becomming less swollen and less warm.

For some reason I am feeling an increase in this swelling and warmth again. I haven't changed ABX in a long while. I will be doing that on Saturday.

So is this Lyme , babs, bart, mycoplasma?

Any ideas on why it may be increasing? And what may be causing it.

ALways lookin' for opinions,
robi

HI Robi

Sorry I definately can't help with a diagnosis but I definately understand the one-sided symptoms.

For example years ago my right hand became swollen, hot, red and painful...this has never really reduced down to original but the hot/painful symptoms wax and wane.

I also have found that my right foot/ankle/lower leg swells much much more than my left.

My headaches etc are universal but its interesting to know I'm not the only one-sided one around.

Good luck

Libby

The good news of one-sided is you should never have to deal with a doctor convinced you have fibromyalgia. One doctor kept saying to me that since I have bilateral pain, it must be fibro!

Recently, I have had more pain on my right side. It's mostly nerve pain, but I'm on plaquenil which prevents inflammation.

It could be that you've got a muscle or a nerve acting up and your body is trying to compensate. I think that's part of my problem.

Sounds like Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (or Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy). Has any doctor said you might have that? The swelling and inflammation can be signs.

It's a nasty pain disorder, but apparently Lyme can sometimes be behind it so if Lyme treatment has helped you, then you've probably gotten to the source. It can progress and spread to other areas though, so you are right to be concerned.

How long have you had the symptoms? Did you have an injury? You might see what a chiropractor has to say. Maybe also try increasing antioxidants and see if that helps.

Hi robi,

Do you mean as in lymph nodes?
I suffer from swollen lymphs everywhere.
They have really improved over the year and 1/2 of treatment but still have it.

One side is always more swollen than the other. From eyes, neck, base of neck, under arms and on down. I am only worse when I herx now. It used to be all of the time.

Thanks for responding.

The swellingis not very painful but it is very annoying and slight pain.

No, not my lymph nodes Barngirl.....just my limbs and side of my face......around my ear and the ear it self tingles.

IBT .... RSD sounds serious. I am not sure but I don't think it is that. I will ask doc about it though.

Aniek, you said palquenil revents inflamation? I am on that....200mg 2 x a day. Guess it would be worse with out the plaquenil. I thought I was onit because it makes the bax penetrate better.

Robi,

Plaquenil is an odd little drug. It does many wonderful things.

It somehow helps the abx penetrate, so some LLMDs prescribe it for that. It's an anti-malarial, so it also helps with babesia. And nobody knows why, but it helps reduce symptoms in people with RA and Lupus.

I stopped taking it once because I thought I was allergic, withing 48 hours my hands became stiff, swollen and painful.
