I have been recently diagnosed with Bartonella. One of my pressing symptoms is hair loss...not in clumps but the hair is becoming thinner (baby fine...texture is changing)and then falls out.
I went to Dr. S in Vancouver and he told me I had frontal fibrosing alopecea, he did a biopsy and those were the results. He told me that this disease is so new that they really do not have any cure for it and they do not know what causes it. I mentioned to them about Bartonella and lyme desease, but not much in response from him. Now I'm in a hair study to see if i'm allergic to metals and other allergens.
Dr G, B. the one that diagnosed me with bartonella and has placed me on minocyclines and benacar, told me it might be a good idea to be on the hair study. Whether the hair that I have lost will grow back they do not know . Dr. S. told me it would not come back because the inflamation has scarred the hair follicles.
This is really stressing me out because I'm loosing ALL the hair along my hairline.
Has anyone had this problem? Has anyone found a way of stopping this hair loss? Does the medication that we are on help stop or slow down the process? Does anyone have any suggestions? I would appreciate anything!
Another symptom that I have is burning of my legs along the shin. There also I have lost all leg hair. Undernormal circumstances I should be pleased but not like this.(ie. no longer shaving them). I'm going to a neurologist next month for more tests. Does this sound like more lyme symptoms to you?
