Kicked myself out on a 5 km jogging-trip yesterday evening and felt good doing this. This morning my painlevel is very low and I am feeling stronger in my legs.

This is a great feeling indeed, anyone with similar experience ?

Lars:

Great that you could do a 5K! I am a firm believer in exercise to oxygenate our Lyme ridden bodies. Some days I do feel better after exercise and some days I am positively achy after for a day or two. The achiness does not stop me from trying again. I think it is a good mental boost as well.

I am impressed with your distance. I am still only able to run for a mile or swim for 12 laps. Keep up the good work. It sounds like you are on the mend.

That's pretty amazing.

I think many of us here can't jog even in place, well at least those more than mildly affected, or who are well into treatment and have regained much of their health.

lyme disease can not be cured by medicine alone.
the body must be a big player in the equation.the medicine can get you to a point but the body must take over and rid the bugs.
exercise is extremely important because it increases your bodies immune system by increasing your endorphin levels and andrenaline levels.these boast the immune system and make the body work harder to heal itself.
even something as mild as yoga or water exercise will help a bit. the more the better.

After feeling lousy for a number of months, I bought a treadmill and forced myself to run 5X week. I started at 1 mile/day which exhausted me. I continued to run many days that my body said no. 4 months later I feel better than I did, still have many complaints but I feel my stronger body helps fight. 3-4 miles a day would have seemed like an impossible dream a few months ago but by continuing to push myself , I feel my body has respnded positively. Keep it up.

Perhaps exercise can work in similar way as oxygen hyperbaric treatment. Both will lead to oxygenation of tissue and Bb doesn't like oxygen that much.

good for you!!!
I also feel better after excercise. I do 60 min aerobic kickboxing class 3 times per week...I hate every minute of it, but after it is done, I feel great.

Areneli:

Not "perhaps" but definitely. My MD has followed the progress of those using HBOT vs. exercise and is adamant that the "addiction" to oxygen from exercise is far better for our bodies than the addiction to HBOT. The effects of HBOT are short lived if you do not supplement with exercise.

Although he tends to scold me for overdoing it, he will not write me a script for HBOT. Says I don't need it. I exercise 6 days a week, whether I want to or not.

If you can do it, my opinion is that it can only help, even in moderation.

Kudos to maxima for 4 miles on the treadmill! I hope to be there one day soon.
