After being symptom-free for 8 months, running marathon, and skiing over 150 cross-country ski miles, I thought I had really kicked Lyme, only to have a bit of residual arthritis left. Well, about 5 days ago, I felt tired (in a way that sleep won't help) and my knees started flaring again, like they did the first time. I still didn't think it was Lyme until I got the same little hard, red bump on my skin like the first time! I immediately called my LLMD at home, and he gave me another scrip for 100 mg of doxy, 2x a day, which worked well for me the first time, after 6 months of treatment. I obviously need to see him again, but do any of you have these red skin lesions? Should I suggest a different abx to try to attack the grems from a new angle! I really thought I was rid of this, but here we go again!, and after all those seemingly healthy times, too! What the heck????!!!!

Doxy 200 mg a day total will probably never do more than barely keep Lyme in check, unless you were treated immediately after a tick bite. How literate is your LLMD? Is it someone local, just curious, cause I live about an hour or so away. Remember, no names, just initials and town. I know some LLMDs in the area (1-2 hrs drive).

I have so many questions for you, but to start with I have the little strawberry red dots......that's babesia. Mine aren't red hard bumps like you described.....Do you just have one bump?

I am sorry to hear you're feeling so crappy after feeling well for 8 months....and skiing I'm so darned jealous of you!!!

The doxy scrip sounds on the low side.....we started with 100mg 2x a day and in a week went up to 200mg. 2x a day.....all of us except the 12 yr old (she's too small for that dosage)

We (my family of 4) go to a great doc......email me I'd like to know more of how you were treated the first time.

Gail

Could be bartonella.

You need to go to a LLMD and be tested for co-infections. All of them and talk with him about all of your symptoms over the years and how you are doing.

Tick are filthy bugs and give us so much we don't know about.

Any way-don't delay. Get an appointment as soon as you can.

Take care.

LLyme:
Is it just one bump?
Or did you leave off an 's' ? .

I was one year off abx- and got a flat
looking rash back that looked Oh so like
the ACA I see in pics (and I had this before in 2001). It responded to Mino. I hate Doxy
because of the photosensitivity issues...
Doxy and Mino are both dosed for me at 5 mg/Kg of body weight..

How long did Lyme go untreated the first time?

Barb

My husband has the little red dot on two spots on his body--are those old tick bites?

I get scabs on my scalp. they may be scabs because I scratch... but they are itchy spots on my scalp that scab over and come back--they never heal and are always in the same spot. I had cortizone shots in my head and tht got rid of some--that was before I know how bad steroids are for us.

Hi - yes, I get red rashes often - flat round red expanding ones (size of quarter) face, hands, arms - and various other rashes on torso - It really went crazy when I began lyme tx - so, for me, I believe it is related to lyme. Some (rashes red circular rashes) came back as drug eruptions - which I also think is related to lyme in that my body is intolerate of everything. I also had shingles...I think also related - due to my immune system being over-burdened.

I tested negative to all co-infections - except at the start I had high ehrlichiosis titer - which is no londer present.
