I can't stand it anymore!!! My whole abdominal area just hurts! Every time I eat-even a little something, my stomach and intestines will start to burn, cramp and just plain hurt. What the heck is going on?? I am not on antibiotics yet. I have an endoscope scheduled for Thursday. What the heck could cause this? Does anyone have any links to abdominal problems with Lyme/Bartonella? I need help!!

Nancy

hi nancy,

I can't offer any answers, only support. My 5 yr. old son and I both have major stomach problems also. We are both at the point where we don't even like to eat. I try to do a lot of protein shakes.
Hope someone comes along with some info.

regards
paisley

Hi Nancy,

Have you contacted your LLMD? I would start there but mabye you have and they recommend seeing a GI specialist.

Almost 2 years ago before the ever dreaded lyme dx, I went through a bout of stomach problems for 7-8 months and it finally went away.

I did an endoscopy and colonoscopy and they found nothing. Have they tried medications like prevacid? They put me on it and it did nothing for me but it might work for you.

Has your doc treated you for co infections?

Hope your feeling better soon!

Hi Nancy!

A good probiotic may help. We have had extremely good results with the Natren brand (I'm not selling!). It comes in three powders and is mixed in water or juice.

It can also be gotten in capsule form, Healthy Trinity, which combines all three of the powders...it is more expensive. You may be able to get it at a Vitamin Cottage in your area, they sometimes carry it.

Here is their website for exploration: http://www.natren.com/pages/infoyogurt.asp

We've had these kinds of problems too.

I'm sorry you're so miserable. IF it's Lyme, the only good news I have to offer is that maybe antibiotics will HELP more than anything. Let's hope!

Hi again, Nancy!!

I'm sorry that you've got this to deal with!!!

Glutamine. This is another suggestion that has been discussed here on the board in the past.....try a search here and for more info do a web search. It is easy to come by.....again Vitamin Cottage has it for sure.
Glutamine, or L-glutamine, is an amino acid derived from another amino acid, glutamic acid. It is used for Irritable Bowel Syndrome, colitis and ulcers.......VERY healing to the gut!! It appears to serve as a fuel for the cells that line the intestines. Heavy exercise, infection, surgery, and trauma can deplete the body's glutamine reserves, particularly in muscle cells. It's also a brain booster and more.

Glutamine can be used in powder form, stirred into water or just taken directly onto the tongue.....it's neutral in taste. The powder is the most economical......it can be used in 1 to 6 gram (some sources go to higher doses) or so doses over a days time.

Healing thoughts.....lightfoot
