Hi everyone - I was just switched after being off Doxy for three weeks now - to Biaxin...any advice, or thoughts regarding this (good move or not)..what to expect etc.???

Biaxin has always been good for me. It is usually prescribed with hydroxychloroquine
(plaquenil) to help the antibiotic penetrate the cells.

Right now I am taking Septra, Mepron and 1000 mg. of Biaxin along with the plaquenil. And I am feeling lots better.

Hope you will, too! Everyone seems to respond differently to the various drugs..

I highly recommend biaxin and plaquenil. It is working very well.

That's ok hats - as long as we get the answers we're looking for - I'm starting today - when are you? - we can follow each other's progress! - I see my llmd on the 15th and will ask for plaquenil - what exactly is it prescribed for? I know a friend of mine with Lupus takes it (and our symptoms are very similar!).

Thanks nan and heatherkiss - your posts made me feel a lot more positive about taking it - As nan mentioned before, the side effects they list sound gruesome!

Biaxin did absolutely nothing for me. But I have read posts by other folks for whom it has worked very well. I guess it depends on the individual and where the Bb are hiding. It's definitely worth a try and easier on your gut than Doxy is.

Just so you're forewarned: Biaxin can leave a bad taste in your mouth as in YUCK!

Can anyone advise Brodius on this? I have forgotten what you can take it with to make the aftertaste less disgusting.
