I started having episodes of high blood pressure. Very high. sometimes 180/112. Along with that, I started having some night air hunger, and would wake up from sleep feeling like I was out of breath. Heart pounds hard when I get over on my left side.

This just started happening a few days ago.

Anyone else had this happen? Is this Lyme related? I am heading off to a cardiologist in the near future, but would like to know more about what these things are and how I can get them back to normal. Don't want to stroke out or anything!

I also have Babs. Is this related to this?

Thank you!

Not to completely freak you out but this has been happening to me too in the last few days more than usual. Checked my bp and it was 140/75 today.

I am on flagyl this week though. My air hunger which I have not had since being treated for babs started on Saturday night.

I hope your appointment with the Cardiologist goes well - keep me posted.

As I remember we are from the same neck of the woods.

That is how my lyme started out in 1994. After my bite in March 1994, my blood pressure started to rise from 120/70 to 220/110 with heart pounding and tachycardia. Very violent. Started taking a baby aspirin a day since I also have the anticardio lipid antibody where your platelets stick together and can cause heart attacks and strokes. This is an auto immune reaction to lyme.
I went through the stress tests, heart monitors etc. You must not get upset. 5mg of Valium helped and I still carry that with me just in case I get a spell of this. Do not use this very often.

I forgot to state that I had babs, HME and HGE plus lyme when Bowen finally found out what was wrong 6 years later.

Thank goodness for this test. I now have the lyme only but my husband suffers from high counts of lyme that I had passed on to him.

MammaLyme, how is your blood pressure now?

After treating for Lyme, Babesiosis, & Bartonella, I've been off abx for 2 yrs.
But now, some of my symptoms are coming back & my blood pressure has gone up.

Just had the Bowen test again.
Negative for Babs & Erlich.
Positive for Lyme - serial dilution 1:32.

Any suggestions for abx?
My appt is next week.

This is also how my lyme started out - very violent also as mamalyme described. It has been happening again since November. I have been prescribed a betablocker - but I am hesitant because my bp can go low and I have asthma - .

Like cbb - my bowen test came back neg for babs & erlich (although positive when first sick) and 1:32 for lyme.

My air hunger was really bad last night -especially when lying on my back. But of course, you can't lie on the left side either as the heart gets disturbed! On my right side I have to face my husband! -

I hope the cardiologist can at least affirm that there is nothing too serious going on and suggest some tx for you!

Best wishes

brodius

It was in 1994 but I continue to have Chronic Lyme and my lyme stays about 1:64 with no coinfections. One thing I was told when I had the tachycardia was to put an ice bag over my chest. This did work and my heart would calm down. Also, the 5 mg of Valium calmed my heart down.
I am on the blood pressure medicine again because my weight has gone up.

Once you can get the weight down and take the stress out of your life, it does help. Did you all get tested for the anti-cardio lipid antibody? That is one of the reactions to lyme.
My heart specialist actually watched the tapes from last April where we had filmed our top doc along with two others. He stated that is a lot of antibiotics to take. But at least he watched the tapes.
His daughter had been bitten. I go to him again in May and will take him a copy of my testimony before the Maryland Senate on May 10.
Of course we have Hopkins here and U of M and they want to state MS or whatever. I went to 16 different doctors in Maryland. No one knew what it was even though I had the picture from 1994 of my bite.

Good luck and good health to you all.

I forgot to state that I also take MAGOX 400 as this helps with your heart rhythms. It is magnesium. It is made by Blaine and I got it at Walmart. Hope this helps.

Mammalyme - I did have the anti-cardio lipid test about three years ago - when I was sent to a rheumy to r/o lupus. I think it came back normal - I never knew what it was though.

I went to many doctors also, even though my chart has documented visit with bite and rash and later state department blood work indicating erlich. It's really outrageous, not to mention life-altering ignornace/negligence.

I hope you are well and that our hearts will all relax a bit- my current doctor thinks these symptoms mean the bacteria is actually in the heart tissue....ick!

Definitely could be babs. Either way, get that blood pressure down!

I was checked for the anti-cardio lipids and it was abnormal [3 yrs ago] With Lyme treatment, it went back to normal.

Hope you feel better soon, Connie!

To Brodius, Good about the anticardio lipid antibody. One less thing to worry about. Stay on the meds and things should start getting better. Also, ask your doctor about the magnesium. It helped my heart to stop skipping so much.

Take care all and much health.
