So far, I've found it adjunctive and not curative.
Do considerable homework first, before trying it, as there are interactions with meds, and interactions of effects of meds, with the effects of silver--of many kinds.
E.g., I presume that if instructions to a given medicine say."... do not take this medicine with mineral supplements...",as is the case with the tetracycline, quinolone, and flouroquinolone antibiotics, I don't do silver concurrently with my meds; yet many people do this. Not good at all. I give at least a 24 hour lee-way to flush out medicines and anything the literature says not to take with minerals; 48 hours is even better.
Tetracyclines chelate normal minerals like Cu, Zn, maybe Fe,and so on. If so,they will also bind Ag,Au,and others. A tetracycline antibiotic bound to Ag, might then NOT be available to bind to an infectious bug; its thereby rendered useless.
A new yahoo group on silver has recently formed, and while whose address I can't think of at the moment to give you, you can probably find it by a search for 'silver hydrosol' or Argentyn 23 for a start on finding it. Also, a 'Brentb,' or just, 'Brent' on here, and on sci.med.diseases.lyme would probably have this address.

I recently had thrush and gargled with colloidal silver (then spit it out) and it didn't help a bit. I think it's a bunch of hype. Pat

It works for me as well as IV Rocephin does but a lot cheaper. On the downside, I relapse as well when I go off of it. Not all brands that I have tried have worked for me. By the way, I have been on and off of it for years and had no argyria (greying of the skin)
Be well,

Yes, I've used it. I read an article about a guy using CS to cure lyme, & decided to try it. Solvereign Silver was the brand I got from the healthfood store. It was pure luck, cuz they had alot of brands. I had huge improvements almost immediately. I only took 1oz. per day. After 3 weeks, I sprained my ankle severely, & was down for 2 weeks. I never could get back to feeling good, after that. I went to a LLMD after that, & am on Vantin, & Flagyl now. The Solvereign Silver Brand IS the goodstuff!! It's a great natural antibiotic..... I may add it again someday. Some, make their own, but I'm a little leery of that.
I was diagnosed with M.S., But started exploring Lyme. I tested equivocal thru Igenex. That's good enough for me!! Good Luck!!

The herb man i started to see told me That i really should try it .I just don't know if i should take it with abx ( which I just Started 2 days ago)
This is all so new to me & I have learned so much in the past 2 or 3 weeks and on top of that, The local doc i found that said he will treat me, is new to all of this also.
I had a 2 hour consult with him on wednesday & we spend most of the time on his computer trying to find a treatment we are both comfortable with .He has me on doxy 100mg bid for right now . he feels i should be on IV but said I would need a cognitive/ memory test( i forget test name)in order for insurance to pay.
Anyway I gave him ILADS & Dr.B Guidelines to go over until next appt in 3weeks. I Glad he at least agreed to try to help me.My family doc of 20 years just threw up his hands and said I can't help you and left me hangin in the wind. Waiting for herx to start & don't know what im in for.
PS. he is also testing for co-infections

Hi Zing,
With no disrespect to this new doctor you have found, yuo should try to get a llmd.
At the least you could get the llmd to 'guide' this new doctor in the right direction.
As far as the silver goes, yes I believe that it does have anti-bacterial properties but most colloidal silver is 90% ionic and 10% silver colloid. The ionic part is a charged particle and therefore will not pass the blood-brain barrier. The silver colloid is too big to pass through the blood - brain barrier, therefore it will not be a cure.
Taking silver with ABX is possibly a bad idea because you might induce a synergic effect. If this happens, you might get a herx too powerful for you to handle, which would be detrimental to your health.

Hi Zing:
My insurance co. questioned my IV treatment after 30 days so, I went to a Neurologist, as they recommended and took the cognitive/memory/IQ test. I also di an LP, which showed up negative. The test I took took 2 days and was horrible - my Lyme brain was not able to concentrate for so many hours. In the end the Neurologist's report said I exhibited cognitive impairment and recommended cognitive therapy. No mention of IV.
I showed it to my Lyme MD, who is also an Infectious Disease MD, and he said DO NOT give this to your insurance company. Since my Lyme MD is also an Int. Med. MD, the insurance co. didn't realize that his credentials (Board Certified Inf. Dis. MD) were enough to ok the IV. I feel I wasted a lot of time with the Neurologist - my ignorance.
That said, you can see an Inf. Dis. MD, Rheumatologist or Neurologist to get a positive diagnosis for insurance approval for IV. It doesn't help to go to an LLMD who is not one of the above. I don't know what your MD's speciality is but, I would talk to him/her about who best to see to get the diagnosis the ins. co. needs. I don't necessarily think it is imperative that you go to a "LLMD", as defined by this forum. There are many good MDs out there who know how to treat using the ILADS Guidelines. Just do your homework. And, be a bit careful of teats like LPs and memory tests. An LP is 50% correct at best.
As for CS. I used it for several months to no avail. But, I would not discount it as an adjunct to abx.
Good luck with your journey. Where are you located?

I'm taking Argentyn 23 by the same company. Also my doctor is giving me IV injections of it weekly. I'm getting severe herx reactions starting about 2 hours post injection for the next 2-3 days. Also apparently it's anti-fungal so I'm not having any yeast problems. I have to admit I thought my doctor was nuts and was afraid she'd turn me blue. But I researched it, talked to a friend who's a biochemist and decided to try it anyway. The lack of yeast and severe herxing would suggest that it's killing something off. And I'm having neurological syptoms from the die off that are not a reaction to either the abx or the silver. Also with silver you want to make sure you're taking selenium if you might have a deficiency. In general I'd say I'm slowly starting to feel better. But I'm not just doing the silver. I'm also taking 1000/mg zithromax and 250mg (2xs day) of hydroxycholrquine. And all kinds of crazy supplements. Silver nitrate is to be avoided. And you don't want to take any non-reputable version or make it yourself.
