Last night while typing, I noticed my arms, hands, and fingers started trembling uncontrollably - you know kind of like your thighs would do if you took a 3 mile hike uphill.
I feel like I don't have the same level of control - it feels neurological & it's scaring me.
I can't really describe the total sensation - the loss of control feeling - it just wigs me out. It's difficult for me to even type this short post.
Anyone else experience this? If so, do you know why? Is it the Lyme? A co-infection? The abx or a herx?

I first called my pharmacist - asking if it could be a side-effect of my increase of the Neurontin. He said "yes". That sort of releived me a bit, even though another part of me is ticked off because I feel like I NEED the Neurontin for the neuro pain.
And yes, I have put a call in to LLMD. I asked for a call back if he didn't think it was due to the med.
This is scaring me too because it is extra difficult to type - I really can't tell you how freaked out I'm feeling.
Typing posts & blog entries are my outlet...if I lose my ability to do that...@#$% I'll probably just sit around and watch Jerry Springer so I will feel better about my life.
Anyone with Neurontin side-effects?

I know I had a few episodes like that It was the biggest adrenaline rush I ever felt it was the lyme causeing it for me.
I would still tell your LLMD. Try not to get excited about anything I remember once while hunting fall turkey which never really gets me excited I shot a puney hen usually I go for gobblers just wasnt feeling well enough so bang shot the hen and
I started shaking all over for at least fifteen minutes adrenaline rush first then shaking uncontrolably couldnt even fill out tag.
Never in my life did this happen before ever not with gobblers or big bucks Iam 47 and hunted all my life and got my buck every heart and turkey spring and fall.
And in all the those years never ever happened.
At that time I hadnt even started treatment yet.
So I know it was the lyme.

Hey Linda, Tree and my dear Dr WA!
You know, the adrenaline thing might be part of it. I know that when I get anxious, scared, or excited, it's like I got a vibration in my body (it's like trembling on the inside instead of the outside). I also can get lightheaded, become faint or start to almost hyperventilate....I think my hands do shake. It really sucks. It's always about stupid things too - nothing worth getting like this for.
It could also be the medication. I now realize that the Levaquin I was on made me much worse off than I was. The doctor told me to go off it for 2 days if I started becoming more painful - I did and it didn't go away. So, I thought it was the Lyme. Now that I've been off Levaquin for more than a week, the pain I was experiencing (the new pain, not the pain I had before the medication) is almost gone.
(neurontin pill)OTHER SIDE EFFECTS: Sleepiness; Dizziness; Inability to coordinate muscle activity; Unusual tiredness or weakness; Pendular or jerky eye movement; Shakiness; Visual disturbances; Nasal congestion; Inflammation of the pharynx; Weight gain; Swelling of the extremities; Nervousness; Muscle pain; Impotence; Indigestion; Dry mouth; Depression; Constipation; Cough; Back pain; Itching.
I'm gonna assume it's the med until I hear differently...meanwhile I'm probably just gonna read today - minimize my typing & my frustration until this shakiness goes away.
I've been on Neurontin for a few years now - but have always taken it at night, so I woldn't have experienced the side-effects perhaps if I was sleeping?
Thanks ya'll.

Dr. W.:
So sorry this is happening to you. I have had this quite a few times. Abx has helped to clear it up some. I get mild shakes and tremors on and off now. I do shake uncontrollably when I am dehydrated. It is a sign that I need electrolytes asap.

I have had them lately as well - in fact I think I have been having a lot of neurological symptoms lately - falling, losing balance, premigraine feeling upon waking and lasting all day.
But as far as the shaking, I was lying in bed two nights ago - with the side of my torso resting against my husband's chest. I just started shaking from my shoulders down - wondering at first, if it was some kind of internal feeling- I asked him if he felt it - he did. It is like when your muscles are overly tired and shake. I also felt really nauseous when this happens. Also, I have been having random bolts of adrenaline which I haven't had since the very beginning that make me feel sick.
I would first look at meds. - I've been doing this to figure out the migrane thing.
Did you do this ever before? I have, which is some comfort that it will go away again.
I eliminated supplements yesterday - felt better last night - but it (shaking, premigrained aura and nausea) happened again this morning.
I don't know but maybe you should just rest anyway since your body has been through so much lately, I am trying to make myself do the same.
I hope your doc gives you some comfort!

Could just be fasciculations (definition: Non-painful, rapid and involuntary contractions or twitchings of groups of muscle fibers.) Happens with neuro involvement, and didn't you just start antibiotics? Oftentimes, that can flare things up.
I've had them very badly on and off over the last year. They are benign if not a pain in the butt. Sometimes, mine are so bad it looks like I'm wet, naked, in -20 degree weather, but nope, not cold and definitely dry (and usually clothed), so, just the nature of the beasties. Also, for me, it seems to happen in waves -- I'll have it pretty badly for a few months, and then not much at all for a while.
So how's that for an alternative hypothesis to the neurontin? In fact, they GAVE ME neurontin to see if it would help with the fasciculations (couldn't tolerate the med, so we'll never know...).
So, in short, it probably is neurological, but if it is fasciculations, nothing to be scared about! Hey, grab a pen, shake away, and sell the resulting art! Abstract is big these days...

Wiseass, I like your name although I think it probably fits me better.
I've fired many a dr and told most of the others to take a flying leap, I even almost hit one once, after a particularlry mean exam they gave my husband.
I had him backed up in a corner and my brothr-in-law had to pull me off. Then he proceeded to tell me my husbands apendix did not burst they just seeped a little. This is after several hours in the hospital under observation for possible apendicitis and writhing in the bed like a woman in labor. Then all at once about three AM all the pain went away, just like that. Now I know and you know there's only one thing that can make that pain go away and it aint seeping a little. The d@#$ dr didn't even show up until ten the next morning. How dare he insult my intelligence that way.
Back to the subject at hand. This shaking you're describing, I've been having this for several years. Sometimes my legs will shake so bad I have to hold it down on the brake pedal, not a good situation. I get shaky real shaky all the time especially when I'm tired or used up my energy reserves.
Sometime for no reason at all. I'm not sure what causes it, but I think it's related to muscle weakness. I've always had the feeling that my body can't absorb protein right and my muscles don't get enough nutrition. Probably something to do with the lyme. Love kat

hey smartie....I too love your name and always enjoy reading your posts....I'm sorry to hear you're having problems....
I've been taking neurontin 3 times a day for over a year....I have the small amounts of shaking from time to time but nothing that major....
I take so many meds for Lyme and babs that I will take the shakes over giving up something that helps me get up and move and think....and sometimes I can't even do that....
Keep us posted on what you find out....most of my research and learning about Lyme is done here.....God bless you wonderful people....so glad we can inform each other and inspire....and smartie....we HAVE to keep you here so get better......soon......

I took my bedtime Neurontin, but am not taking my daily doses.
This morning I'm still shaking a bit - more like fine tremors; but definitey not as bad as yesterday. I feel like I have more control - which is the biggest relief.
I think the feeling that I was losing control of my limbs was the scariest feeling.
Hey Dura - I've taken your advice & made some neuroLyme artwork. Shall we start the bidding at $100? Who says $100?
Thanks all - I'll let you know what my LLMD says.
