I began Ketek one week ago and have felt extremely spacey, almost to the point of dizzy for a couple of days. I was just wondering if anyone else has this symptom. Hopefully this is a herx and those bugs are dying in my brain. Any thoughts out there???

I started Ketek yesteday Sunday. I have felt spacey also, thinking it might be a flare up killing the beasts ..

Have you had any other side effects, i'm not real hungry, which is not a bad thing

The only side effect I've noticed so far is the spaciness.

I''m about to start in Ketek, too. I have a question for others on it - does it ONLY come in boxes of 10? I just picked up my Rx for 30 and I was given three boxes of 10 and had to pay a $10 co-pay on EACH BOX. I'm wondering if it can be gotten in bottles because I believe I might only have 1 co-pay for that.

Thanks,
Annie

Mine doesn't come in boxes...just a regular prescription bottle.

I just talked to my pharmacist on the phone and apparently the $30 was just the co-pay amount for Ketek per prescription, so it wasn't $10 per box. That's a little better and explains some things. She also said that the Ketek doesn't come in a bottle, only in the boxes, which isn't what I've found when I looked online (I found many references to bottles of 60). But, whatever, it's a little better if I'm not being charged per box.

I am in my 6th week of Ketek (now with Cedax).

One of the side effects is blurry vision that I have noticed on occasion.

I would think that the spaciness is a herx reaction. Just my opinion.

Good luck w/ the med. We have seen some cognitive improvement w/ it in Katie's case!!

She had a hard herx at first and we ramped up really really slowly!! Big thing we noticed was a hacking cough! She's spacey all the time so, can't really tell much from that!!

Annie - My daughter's scrip has been filled both ways - boxes and bottle. So, it does come in a bottle!!

Personally, I like the boxes tho because I can number the doses and tell if she is "actually" taking the meds w/out putting them in the little boxes!! LOL - she's not always so cooperative!! Lately, is doing better tho!!

Ketek may kill Babesia, so a babs herx could be one explanation for the spacey feeling. I was very tired and weak the first few weeks on Ketek.

I'm having a awful taste in my mouth. I'm tired and spacey, but can not sleep.

I'm on 400 mg twice a day.

What is kind of dosages are you being prescribed.

Here is a site with lots of info on Ketek http://www.rxlist.com/cgi/generic3/ketek_ad.htm

I found that Halls cough drops really helped in overcoming the bad taste from any drug.

After I few months on Ketek, I noticed I had insomnia. I switched from 400 mg twice a day to 800 mg once with breakfast.

The spaciness and tiredness lasted only a few weeks at the beginning.
