Hi, after much research, I feel that I do indeed have Lyme. I had the bullseye rash, followed by generalized rash about 37 yrs ago. Probably passes it to my daughter. we have both been diagnosed with CFS for about 11 yrs. My biggest question is this, what are the chances of effective treatment after all this time. Anyone had good results with herbal treatments. Thanks earthmama

Hi Earthmama,

I think that first you will need to find yourself a Lyme literate physician. You can do that by posting in the Seeking a doctor section of Lymenet to get a recommendation.

There are people on Lymenet, whom I believe have been sick for longer than you have, and who have improved significantly and feel good. I think most people are cautious about using the word cure in late stage Lyme. But, certainly I do believe we can improve to the extent of living normal lives, feeling well. Sometimes that may mean having to go back on antibiotics from time to time.

I do not believe that herbals, on their own, will make you recover from Lyme. (any more than they would Syphilis).

Like you, I was misdiagnosed for many years with CFS/Fibro and have tried many alternative/complementary therapies that did not get me well. Therefore, I've gone full circle and am now going conventional, along with some herbs, and vitamins, and as I get better/stronger and can afford to, then I will add in a few more supportive measures. That is my plan.

Good luck
DLL

WELCOME To LYMENET

Here's more goodys! A typical response to newcomers.

Hi and WELCOME! Get a LLMD or at least Dr that is willing to learn about lyme. Borrelia Burgdorferi is a clinical diagnosis, based on symptoms and on your response to treatment. Good Luck, bumpy road ahead.

Post for a LLMD in
Seeking a Doctor. Ps remember I am not a Dr, just a fellow sufferer.

Thanks guys, I appreciate your time. It will take me a bit to read all the info you nicely provided. I should say that I have been tested many times over the years, neg. Not sure what tests were used. I have a good doctor, but not a Lyme specialist. She was convinced years ago that I had Lyme, but then I tested neg. I will have to check and see what tests were done. I will also check out LLD in the area. thanks again. earthmama

Earth, welcome to the board.

Glad Tree posted his/Tincup's combo newbie links for you. Be sure to print this off, check off as you read as there are many months of reading.

Tree constantly adds things also; so later print it off again so you don't miss something you were looking for...ok.
