I am 9 weeks pregnant, and so far, things are going GREAT! I am a chronic Lyme patient, but was given the 'all clear' to start a family, and we couldn't be happier! I am looking for any stories from people in similar situations, as well as advice as to what questions I need to make sure and ask, and what precatutions to make sure to take. I have been feeling suprisingly well so far, even many of my Lyme symptoms have lessened, but I still want to be cautious and do all that I can to have a happy, healthy baby. Please share anything that you think will help.... thanks!!

Hey - glad to hear of the pregnancy!

I remember how excited I was when I was pregnant.

I had Lyme but had no idea I had it. My pregnancy was perfect (other than my son was bigger than the average baby). The delivery was perfect. And my son was pefect!

My son is almost 3 now and still shows no signs of Lyme, other than Eczema as a baby. He still has very sensitive skin.

My Lyme went out of control after my pregnancy and that is when I started my quest to figure out what was wrong with me.

I thank the Lord so much that my son was and still is healthy. I really hope he did not contact Lyme from me but I bet he did, especially since I also breast fed him.

Good luck and keep us posted.

There is another girl on here, Sarabear, you might be interested in talking with. She is also pregnant.

I believe I have had Lyme for 20 yrs. Twenty years ago no one could tell me what was wrong so I became a "health nut". Organic, macrobiotic diet, walking, supplements, amalgams replaced by gold, homeopathics, etc. I slowly improved and at age 40 (1991) conceived on purpose, had a section because my baby was breech and delivered an entirely healthy baby girl. I had read about the dangers of vaccination so I refused all vaccinations for her. They will want to vaccinate at 2 days for hemophilus or hepatitis, I can't remember which. Read up on this ahead of time.

At 6,12, and 18 months I allowed her to be given oral polio immunization. I breastfed until she was 3. At 24 months I allowed a DaPT vaccination, and then a booster some months later. I never vaccinated her for anything else. I purposely exposed her to chicken pox and she got it. If I had been able to find measles and German measles I would have exposed her to them.

I was always tired since the time of her birth and I think the Lyme was slowly coming back at me. I wasn't able to get enough rest and to make the healthy food I used to make. When she was 2 I wanted another child but was too tired to do it.

My daughter is now 12. I had her tested at MDL: c6, western blot and Babesia titer and she is fine.

I, however, am not. I finally got a Lyme diagnosis 6 months ago and am being treated by a LLMD.

It seems, IMO, that Lyme is more of a danger to the fetus if Lyme is contracted in the first trimester, rather like German measles. But I don't think anyone knows for sure. I have read the pregnant mother should take amoxicillin throughout the entire pregancy but I can't remember the dose.

Best wishes.

My son was born with Lyme before I knew I had a chronic disease. I had very few symptoms at the time but he got it anyway. I wish we knew more about why some babies get it and others don't.

I hadn't had any treatment, of course, since I didn't know I was sick. So maybe that was the problem.

All my girls were and are perfectly healthy!! They don't know if I contracted Lyme as a child myself (around 6) or as an adult. Either way, all my pregnancies were great and I had no complications. Wish I would have known though before becomming pregnant just so I would be aware. Congratulations and all the best!!!!!!!!
