Pain is a lot worse sitting then standing or laying down. Does this sound like gallblader or something else? I had an abdominal ultra sound and it was fine but I know gallblader does not always show on ultra sound.

I have an appointment tomorrow morning but know I will my doc will have to do some testing.

if it gets progressively worse i wouldn't wait until mornign..

i was 16 and started getting terribly pain in and around where my gallbladder is....so bad i kept falling off chairs and had to lie on the ground to get any relief.

one doctor clearly said to me "if you were 30 I'd have you on an operating table in half an hour" but i was 16 and sure enough tests came back negative and i didn't have gallstones.

MDs never found out what caused it...it revisits occasionally but thankfully its not been than bad again!

Stones that obstruct the outlet of the gallbladder result in steady pain in the upper abdomen, usually on the right side under the ribs.
This pain comes on gradually, can last from 30 minutes to 12 hours, and resolves. Continued obstruction causes the gallbladder to become inflamed.
The pain persists and may extend to the right shoulder blade. The person may have a fever as well.

My observations:
A kidney stone stuck in the ureter between the kidney and the bladder will cause pain at or below the waistline, either on the left or the right side, radiating down to the groin.
It can cause vomiting and loose stools or diarrhea, which makes people think they have an intestinal problem.

Check your temperature, in case you have a fever, your doc will be interested in that.

I experienced severe gallbladder pain. From what I remember it started out under the right ribs.

It would come and go during the day. Progressively it got really bad.

They were extremely severe radiating up to my heart and shoulder. I was on the ground and swore I was having a heart attack.

It was horrible. Make a long story short, my gallbladder was removed due to stones. They were lodged in the tube (forget what it is called)Told me they got in just in time because something would have burst.

my guess wouldn't be gallbladder attack...if i were to assess a patient coming in with your symotms...but an ultrasound will tell them more today..

Hi Lymetoo...here's the scoop!

I saw my GP at 7:30 am and have a CT scheduled at 11:30 today. She felt around my gallbladder and there isn't pain but I still have some pain and discomfort.

She wants me to see the GI doc to do an endoscopy and hidascan which will hopefully show more if CT turns up normal.

My doc did say I could have an irriation from abx and gave me nexium. Another problem to deal with...oh joy!

Lisa, because my ultrasound was negative in January doc didn't want to repeat one.
