Today, my tremors seem to be working over-time.

The feeling is whigging me out, and I'm lying around just trying to relax, wanting to perhaps take a well-deserved nap and NOW...

I'm experiencing these almost rhythmic vibrations down my arms & legs. It doesn't hurt - just freaks me out a bit. It's like I can feel the nerve tingle all the way down my limb and then it vibrates a little extra at the bottom.

It makes me wonder if I'm about to have a full-blown seizure or something. I'm really freaked!!!!

Is this herxing? A cause of concern?

I'm mainly just wanting people to say: "Don't worry, and take a nap."

Would you mind doing that for me?

Thanks,

I've had problems with wierd vibrations for years, for long before I actually had a Lyme diagnosis. They are miserable and a form of torture, as far as I'm concerned, but I've never had these tremors actually *do* anything to me in the sense of a full-on seizure or anything like that.

I'd tell you to take a nap, but the vibrations might keep you from sleeping. That's what I hate most about them. I tend to get them very badly at night. They are a major reason why I need sleeping pills to get any rest. Lyme sucks. Just try to stay calm. They probably aren't going to harm you. If you *can* nap, more power to you!

Don't worry - take a nap

I've had those and now I have myoclonus where the movements are out of control. Relaxation is good for you - relaxing bath?

good luck.

Hi Wise-

Hopefully you have already taken a nap, if possible, and tried to relax those muscles. I have had the same thing for years now, especially at night. My LLMD just recently suggested L-theanine (an amino acid). It works to relax muscles and is known for it's anti-anxiety effect, though it does not make you drowsy. Seems to have settled things down a bit for me. If it keeps troubling you, ask your doc about giving that a try.
Meanwhile, relax and know that there are plenty of us out there "dancin" with you.

oh wiseone,

are these visiible? or on inside like when one has hypoglycemia?

i spent years going to drs' office trying to find an answer to my tremors becaue they made me feel edgy and nervous. i had one of the best-not drs. at the mayo clinic tell me they were all in my head. loser.

he reprimanded me one day because I was upset with his office for not calling me to cancel a test to try to learn what this was. i had driven over an hour to get to the office, after waiting months to get it scheduled, blah blah. he was one of the most arrogant i have digressed a bit. but anyhow.

anyway you can take some ativan, klonopin, xanax for these. it has helped me. I had an llmd suggest that these are the bacteria communicating with one another. couldd be bunk, but a pretty interesting theory nontheless.

have you been tteste/treated for babs?

feel better wise one.

Hi
You don't mention what meds you are on...this sounds like Lyme neuropathy, (nerve damage) - tingling/buzzing in the extremities. I get it too, it is quite common as I've heard many people mention it.
No doubt it can be worse as a herx symptom.

I mentioned about tremors to Dr B and he said to take magnesium (Mag Tabs) - has your doc checked for hyperreflexia also?

Methyl B12 intramuscular or Jarrows Methyl B12 sublingually can help repair nerve damage too and is part of Dr B's protocol.

Just my suggestions for what they're worth!

Wiseguy...

You're definately not alone! I have it mostly in the face and neck...i actually felt it migrate there from my arm. I thought it might be the onset of Bell's, but ok so far...have had it off & on for a few months. I'll have a big spasm in my eyebrow area occasionally too...mainly from looking into a PC and also with the TV...wierd...think it has to do with the refresh rate of them. I've seen several people note that it doesn't really cause any damage or permanent issues. Most people notice it at night, in bed, when everything is still and quiet. Just roll with it...it'll pass...you'll get to sleep.

Hey all --

Thank you for your replies.

As I attempted to take a nap, I started hearing electricity. Yeah, that's what I typed: electricity. I couldn't tell if I was hearing it come out of the wall, or just circulating through my body...

I tried to ignore that until I started hallucinating that my husband was home, talking to my child - but of course, that wasn't happening either - so I broke down and took 2 xanax.

Had a good nap.

When I woke up, the vibrations were over in my left leg, but now seem to be happening in my right foot. So curious.

But suddenly I remembered I had a similar type experience a few years ago (before LD diagnosis) prior to a bladder procedure for my interstitial cystitis.

I had the same vibration feeling, only it was near my bladder.

And after the nurses gave me the loopy pre-op med, my male doc comes in and I reportedly told him that, "I feel like there's a cat purring in my ......" (Only I actually SAID the worst thing you could imagine!) Ah, good memories. I can still hear the nurses snickering...or am I hallucinating again?

As for my meds, I'm on the usual sort - Biaxin, Norco (for pain), Flexeril, a whole bunch of supplements; and I'm taking Neurontin at night. A couple of weeks ago when I tried increasing the Neuronton dosage is when the tremors started. Initially I thought the tremors were being caused by the increase in Neurontin. Apparently not.

I'm also taking about 1,000 mg mag a day. Is this not enough?

Anyway, thanks for helping me feel somewhat better about it mentally. It's just a freakish feeling to feel your nerves 'communicating' with something...or maybe there's little aliens in my body wanting to get out saying in their nerve-like code: "ET go home"

Hey, just so long as they don't start purring.

Thanks again.

(To the easily offended, please note I did not use any profanity in this post...if you thought it...then go wash your mind out with Ivory. It's 99% pure.)

I'm really sorry this happened and seems to have gotten worse.

I actually have a question - my 12 year old son with lyme and many other issues said a few times that he hears electricity - is there any way you could explain that? He says some off the wall stuff so I didn't take him seriously, but just seeing that you wrote it, really made me wonder.

He also gets hallucinations and tremors but i don't know about the other stuff as he is pretty non-communicative.

Once again, I sure hope you are feeling better soon.

LS

Lymesux -

You know, that's an interesting question - about hearing 'electricity' because I can't recall a time where I have actually heard it - so it's not like I have a memory of it to validate my experience - that's just what my mind told me.

Here's my semi-logical take on it - and know that I'm just making this up as I go along....

Energy is in the body & whatever was happening with my nerves yesterday - it was an energetic experience of sorts.

And of course, electricity is energy too.

So - maybe 'energy' would have been more accurate a term - but I don't necessarily know what energy sounds like either.

I just say what the voices tell me to say. (OK - that part was a joke.)

The sound, which I heard in my left ear was a buzzing, whirring kind of sound that seemed to cycle. Have you ever heard a big electrical transformer outside make some scary noises? I suppose it was a similar type sound - only I was hearing it in my left ear only. I know - bizarre!

Whether I was hearing the energy that was misfiring in my left leg, or hearing the energy coming from the wall that I was next to, or just hallucinating - I just don't know.

What I do know is that my senses sometimes seem to be more sensitive lately. I can smell or hear things before other people can.

So maybe my hearing is like the Bionic woman & I can now hear electricity. I have also smelled (nasty) things that weren't around my house at the time - so I have to think I was either hallucinating, or now my sense of smell is so sensitive that I can smell it when my neighbor passes gas. ??

This probably doesn't help. I honestly don't know how to explain the whole electricity thing - it's a mystery to me. I'm sure I'll tell my neuro about this & I'll report later to you what he says to me with his words, AND what he says with his face. (he may just think I'm crazy.)

I'm actually betting that my hearing 'electricity' could have been a hallucination. What 'off-the-wall' stuff is your son experiencing? Maybe it would help if someone could validate that his 'experience' is OK - even though it may not be reality? It must be very difficult being a child or teen with all this Lyme crap!

I have an 11 y/o daughter, and she's already started the 'I don't feel like telling you everything' attitude - and as far as I know - she doesn't have Lyme. I can only imagine your frustration!

Feel free to email me anytime: [email protected]

Blesings,

Dr. Wiseass,

Thank you for your frankness--I don't know if I would be near as understanding with my boy if I hadn't read your posts and how upfront you are with your symptoms--so I am more patient with him--and I believe him.

I use to smell electricity when I was a kid--but I think that may have had more to do with the house we lived in.

Linda

I do not hear electricity.

There are times I hear whooshing though.

It reminds me of a sci-fi movie. Like I'm going through a tunnel or black hole at top speed. It can be extremely loud.

I have noticed that most the time it happens is when I'm on or just gotten off the computer.

When the heat is on, the whooshing is even louder than normal. I have no idea why.

Good morning everyone- Glad you're here to keep me company-

Hearing-since childhood I occasionally hear a very high pitched tone that no one else hears, lasts a few seconds to maybe 30 seconds

Electricity-sure I sometimes feel like there is a very small electric current running just under my skin-lately it's been in my calves.

Janet

Thanks Dr. W.A.

With myself, i have pretty much everything you describe - just never describe it as hearing electricity (i hear pretty much everything else - except the tv when its on or my husband when he speaks (hmmm)).

Now with my boy, he has complained in the past of tinnitus and of hallucinations - seeing i believe snakes and things like that while he was awake. He also has full on conversations with people who are not there.

But one day he said he heard electricity - now maybe he smelled it and used the word heard, I don't know - he is non-communicative, not because he is defiant but because he doesnt know how to express what he's feeling.

Thanks so much for explaining all that you have - I may email you - I truly appreciate it.

Please take care of yourself and i apologize if i took over your post with aaron's problems.

Lymesux -

Don't be silly - you didn't 'take over my post'!

Its part of having a discussion...and most of the time when I join a discussion I totally derail it with some kind of senseless antics on my part - just for the laughs it brings to me!

You didn't take over or derail - it's all OK. (That's my motto today: It's all OK. It's all OK....)

And please do email me...anytime!

Lymesux,

How long has your son been treated?

Does he see a psychiatrist? If so has that helped?

Thanks,
L

Linda - he does have a psych. He has alot of other issues other than lyme also.

He was treated for lyme and babesia for 1 1/2 years and is being monitored by an llmd while being tested for some other things - and going thru therapy, physical, occupational and speech therapy, etc.
