Hi,

I was already at a site that sells vits after finding it on google. I looked up chlorella and it has a bunch. The address is: www.vitacost.com I am not endorsing this site. Seems cheap enough though.

There is a huge difference in the quality of Chlorella. You do not want to cut cost there and end up with an inferior quality.

If chlorella is not grown under the greatest of care (covered, clean water, protected) it often contains heavy metals, etc., one of the reasons we try to take good chlorella in the first place. It is a science to grow it. The one we are using is from Biopure 1-800-801-6187. Our doctor watches the quality with every batch!

CHLORELLA (pyrenoidosa or vulgaris)

HEALING BENEFITS:

Chlorella has multiple health inducing effects. Below are just a few of the published effects that have been demonstrated.

Antiviral (especially effective against the cytomegaly virus and herpes)

Toxin binding (mucopolysaccaride membrane) for all known toxic metals, environmental toxins, such as dioxin and others

Repairs and activates the body's detoxification functions

Dramatically increases reduced glutathion

Sporopollein is as effective as choestyramin in binding neurotoxins and more effective in binding toxic metals than any other natural substance

Various chlorella peptides restore coeruloplasmin and metallothionin

Lipids (12.4%) alpha and gamma linoleic acid help to balance the increased intake of fish oil during detoxification programs and are necessary for many functions, including formation of their peroxisomes.

Methylcobalamin is food for the nervous system. It restores damaged neurons and has its own detoxifying effect.

Chlorella Growth Factor - helps the body detoxify itself in a yet not understood and profound way. It appears that over millins of years chlorella has developed specific detoxifying proteins and peptides for every existing toxic metal.

The porphyrins in chlorophyll have their own strong metal-binding effect. Chlorophyll also activates the PPAR-receptor on the nucleus of the cell which is responsible for the transcription of DNA and coding the formation of the peroxisomes (see fish oil), opening of the cell wall (unknown mechanism) which is necessary for all detoxification procedures.

Super nutrient - with a 50-60% amino acid content it is an ideal nutrient for vegetarians. Methylcobalamin - the most easily absorbed and utilized form of B12, B6, minerals, chlorophyll, beta carotene, etc.

Immune system strengthening

Restores Bowel flora

Digestive aid (bulking agent)

Alkalinizing agent (important for patients with malignancies)

RECOMMENDED DOSAGE:

Start the standard adult maintenance dosage for the 6-24 months active detox:
1 gram (approx. 4 tablets) 3-4 times a day

Incorporate a more active detox by increasing the Chlorella dose to 3 grams (approximately 12 tablets) whenever Cilantro is being taken. This must be taken one week intermittently, followed by 2-3 weeks on the above adult maintenance dose (i.e. 1 week on, 2-3 weeks on the standard maintenance program).

Chlorella must be taken 30 minutes before the main meals and at bedtime.

This way chlorella is exactly in that portion of the small intestine where the bile squirts into the gut at the beginning of the meal, carrying with it toxic metals and other toxic waste. These are bound by the chlorella cell wall and carried out via the digestive tract.

When amalgam fillings are removed, the higher dose should be given for 2 days before and 2-5 days after the procedure (the more fillings are removed, the longer the higher dose should be given).

If you take Vitamin C during your detox program, take it as far away from Chlorella as possible. Vitamin C is the only substance known so far that can knock mercury off its tight bind in the chlorella membrane.

SIDE EFFECTS:

Most side effects reflect the toxic effect of the mobilized metals which are shuttled through the organism. This problem is instantly avoided by significantly increasing the chlorella dosage, - not by reducing it. Small chlorella doses mobilize more metals than are bound in the gut; large chlorella doses bind more toxins than are mobilized.

Some people have problems digesting the cell membrane of chlorella. It is hard and sophisticated. The industry has developed several ways by cracking the membrane. However, mechanical destruction of the membrane leads to subsequent oxidative damage to some of the most precious ingredients (such as chlorella's fatti acids).

Biopure uses a patented process by which stiff structural elements of the cell wall are cracked by using sound waves (similar to the process called lithotripsy), keeps the extra cellular chlorella barrier intact, thus protecting all of the cell's organelles.

Chlorella can also be made bio-available by dissolving the cell wall enzymatically. Biopure produces are proprietary mix of sound cracked chlorella with specific enzymes, which kick into action once chlorella has arrived in the alkaline section of the small intestine. This product is availabe as BioPure Enzyme Potentiated Chlorella or EPC.

Another solution for people with digestive problems is Chlorella vulgaris. Chlorella vulgaris has a thinner cell wall and is therefore better tolerated by people with digestive problems.

Some manufacturers have created cell wall free chlorella extracts (NDF or Nanonized Detox Factors; PCA or Peptide Clathrating Agent) which are quite costly, but easily absorbed. NDF is availabe as NDF and NDF Plus. It contains micronized and nanonized chlorella and cilantro as the primary ingredients. It is recommended cycling NDF Plus into the program: 3 weeks on, 3 weeks off.

Do not buy the powder form unless you enjoy eating concentrated spinach. UG. Then do not sneeze. But if you do everything will come out green for hours....

Ditto. Price does not necessarily equate with quality and this is one supp. you definitely want of high quality!

Find a reputable source. Unfortunately, the nutrition supplement industry is not regulated as is the pharm. industry (quality, dosage control,etc.).

Green is good...that goes for all the green foods too ;-)

Mom knew best...

Gigi,

Are you saying that some brands of chlorella actually deliver more heavy metals than they remove? Or was your point simply that some brands are more efficient than others?

Does anyone else use the chlorella from Biopure?

I found Biopure chlorella on mercola.com for $19.50 for 81g. Not too bad for high-quality chlorella.

I just hate to have to go on the web to buy this stuff. I wonder if Biopure can be ordered home in stores. Anyone knows?

I'm currently using chlorella from Pure Planet ($13.50 for 60g at Mrs.Greens.) Anyone using this? Is it any good?

Mrs.Greens also has two other types of chlorella from a japanese company.."sun-something". But both are like $30-35 for the same amount.

Michael

Since chlorella, by its nature, absorbs metals from its environment, you do not want to buy one that has been grown carelessly and is containing a lot of metals (from the surrounding air and water supply) - the very neurotoxins you are trying to get out of your body - the reason you are taking it in the first place.

Chlorella used to be used in the mining industry to get the last molecule of gold out of the sludge!!!!!

You can ask for an analysis, but each crop is different and I doubt that anyone selling it is interested in getting this info to you. And interpreting the info once you get it is another problem for the lay person.

We use BiopureUS chlorella after having used several different brands over many years that eventually went down in quality. Our doctor uses Biopure at this time only because he can follow the results on a daily basis. As long as he tells me okay, I will use it.

Once he noticed that the freezedried Pharmax garlic was not doing any longer for patients what he had expected to do, he realized that the garlic plant was not clean enough and it took almost a year to find an absolutely clean organic garlic.

Garlic again, by its very nature, same reasons why we use garlic in the first place, picks up many a toxin around it. So use garlic only if it is true organic. Upon testing, the stuff from China is loaded with pesticides, etc.

We are using Garlic in order to eliminate many of these toxins out of our body. So quality counts. It took over a year to find a clean organic garlic in North America. Biopure again is the one we use. We take no chances.

Just be smart about it.

Thanks Gigi for the clarification on the pureness of chlorella.

Does anyone know to what extent chlorella pulls out the good metals such as mag, zinc, copper, iron, etc?

Or does it primarily pull out mercury?

Michael

The article I posted way above explaining at length what chlorella does and doesn't answers all your questions. Read it several times carefully. It does not remove the good minerals. The timing for taking chlorella is the most important of all - .
It is also explained above. The article I posted comes straight out of my doctor's mouth: they are his words that have been put into practice for many, many years with patients that have gotten well!!!!!!!!!

Following instructions on how to take it is important. Same as with taking garlic. Same as with taking cilantro. There is a specific reason for taking these exactly as recommended.

If you don't tolerate chlorella, there is an explanation also. If you have a metal problem, try NDF and alternate. If the proper agents and full body support (colonics and Lymph drainage, liver support, kidney support) are there, chlorella usually does not bring out symptoms. The symptoms are most likely more related to congested liver, etc. You call it reaction to chlorella - most likely it is not the chlorella, but that your whole body system is running on overload.
