Does anyone else have a problem where there brain feels locked into a lower level of functioning, like it is heavy and stuck?

I have been quite disabled with lyme for 14 years and cannot drive, prepare a proper hot supper, or carry on a conversation, one-on-one for long without shutting down or getting confused.

Is there anything that can be taken to improve this problem and what causes it - is it vasculitis or hypercoagualtion? any thoughts?

Lisa

Lisa,

I have the same problem occasionally on bad days. It's very depressing, and I'm sorry you feel this way.

What to do about it?

Some people take blood thinners (e.g., aspirin) or anti-coagulants (e.g., nattokinase+bromelain).

Supposedly, this should help if you have hypercoagulation.

I take one Nattokinase and one Bromelain every day. But I have not really noticed any change. I have not gotten worse from it though...

I also don't know if I have hypercoagulation. A SPECT showed that I have moderate to severe hypoperfusion in the brain.

The cause of the brainfog is not known.

Michael

Lisa,

This is my most disabling symptom in addition to the constant dizziness and disequilibrium.
Haven't found the answer yet but constantly searching. I am unable to do any of the things you listed.
Will certainly pass it on if I find the answer, but I don't think that magic bullet is out there.

I'm just as bad on a really bad day. its the worst part of being infected for me. Well, the horrible abdominal pains every other day weren't much fun either although they are gone for now. Noticed someone suggested blood thinners. My LLMD explained to me that Lymes will make the blood thick so that less oxygen gets to where it is needed in less than the normal time frame. Sounds like a good suggestion to me.

Hi, I have all the above listed sx, including noy being able to walk, drive, write, see, think etc. A girlfreind who had a stroke told me she takes a supplement called rhodiola. I tried it and it helped "wake me up" and gives a bit of energy.
