Has anyone heard any reliable info on how lymes effects the teeth and gums? I have been blessed with very good teeth but they ache now every so often. I also wondering if anyone had heard of any research being done? My husband has had 50% bone loss. He is a smoker but only 1/2 pack a day. the dentist told him that they normally see his problems with a two pack a day smoker.

I ended up with braces as an adult as my dentist told me at that time I had a 10% bone loss in my jaw. It was explained to me that my teeth were large and my jaw small.
I had teeth pulled and braces applied.
That was years before Lyme. Shortly after my tick bite, I developed what was believed to be an abcess, but didn't resolve with antibiotics. Had a root canal. Still didn't resolve
Recently had oral surgery to see what was going on in there and the surgeon said he never saw anything like what I had. It has healed nicely.
I've seen quite a few posts on here about dental issues, so maybe if you search using the word dental.
My teeth ache at times and also weak in the sense of not being able to chew hard things at times.

Before I knew that I had Lyme, I saw my dentist more than once for excruciating molar pain.
He finally decided that there must be a fracture--though the x-ray didn't show it--so he filled it to within an inch of its life.
He said, though, that that would be temporary; the pain would invariably come back and I would need a root canal, post and crown.
It has not hurt since--and that was about two years ago--and I now understand from my LLMD and from research that because Lyme often directly affects the 5th nerve, that pain can radiate to your teeth, molars in particular, I believe.
