Hi. I recently finished 10 days on Actos and felt horrible the entire time. Around the same time I also went back to 400mg of Doxy (hadn't been on it for about a year). I'm trying to figure out which drug is responsible for my week and 1/2 of hell. Can Actos cause a "herx" of Lyme symptoms?
I'd been on CSM for a couple months now without Actos.
Any info would be appreciated. Thanks!

I think I responded to your question under another topic. Actos was terrible for me. Made me extremely ill and it took a long time to recover from it. After researching it a bit, I realized that Actos is not right for everybody (no longer remember why), but in my case it was a real detriment.

Thanks for your response. Today is the first day I'm off it (my Dr. has 10 days on, 7 days off)Still very tired.
Did you follow the no amylose diet while on it?
I wanted to be on it b/c being on the CSM w/out it I was gaining a lot of weight that I just couldn't loose. On the actos I think I lost a few pounds, but I couldn't get my but off the sofa (Usually I'm well enough to exercise and do yoga almost daily) and all I've been doing is eating anyway b/c I'm so miserable (I did follow the no amylose diet strictly)
Also, as you can see from my other post, I'm being treated for a nasal staph infection so my body is undergoing a lot right now.
The whole month of April is a blur.

No, I wasn't on the diet. But I'm telling you, it WAS the Actos that nailed me. I'd strongly suggest you research the stuff. Some people do react like this, and it means it's NOT good for you. Sorry I don't recall the details, but I freaked after I did the research and understood why I felt so badly on it. I stopped, but it took weeks to recore.

I did several months of i.v. doxy. It NEVER made me tired like the Actos. I started going down the tubes immediately with the Actos, when prior to that I was doing well.

I also took Actos to counter the Cholestyramine I was taking at the time. I also have staph infections in my sinuses. For me, Actos was very bad, and it took me much longer to recover from it, than the time it took for me to get really, really sick on it. :-(

So let me get this strait. ACTOS made some people on here much worse?

I really want my LLMD to prescribe it. Im so desperate. Im stiff and in pain every day and the anti-biotics cause herxes which are even tougher.

Ive been going through this for years now with little to no relief. Im so upset.
