Hi!
I am 40 and a half and always had normal periods but lately I have experienced very heavy periods with a clots that I haven't experienced since childbirth.Sorry for the graphics.I am on heparin to lock my port but that should cause less clotting.

Anyone else had this??

Thanks Sue.

Hi Sue

Early into my use of heparin, I had an experience similar to yours. Turns out I had a fibroid that actually started bleeding once my blood was normalized by the heparin.

I got the fibroid taken care of and the bleeding stopped. I continued on heparin for another 2 years with no problems.

A side point. My daughter gave birth to her first while on heparin with NO bleeding problems.

Sue -

I'm usually a heavy clotter myself....
(and I hope no one is lurking about taking weird statistical info about us...)

but since I've been on heparin shots, I have not noticed them being as bad.

I would suggest calling you're doc, and getting some feedback. You may call both your LLMD AND your gyno - just to make sure they're both on the same 'page'.

As far as the endometriosis - are you in much pain?

Endo was once 'ruled out' for me - but it was done by an absolute idiot who spent a whopping 3 minutes jabbing a laporoscopy camera around in my pelvic area. Let's just say, he didn't spend a lot of time or energy uncovering every 'stone' - so I've never been completely convinced he was right.

Hope you feel better - and CALL YOUR DOCS!

Had the same problems. My period would last

almost 2 wks. with the symptoms you

described. I was sick as a dog. Talked to

my Gyno. She suggested that I take Depo.

shots. The majority of time your periods

stop all together. No Periods- No problems.

I take calcium suppliments to help my bones,

and the effects are completely reversable.

I haven't had a period in about 2 years,

and I feel sooo much better.

One good fringe benefit here is the improve-

ment in the relationship w/ hubby. I'm

sure you ladies can understand what I mean

here. It's much easier to have "private

time" w/ someone who has a chronic illness

when you don't have to just hope for the

times when your good days Don't come along

w/ your period.

Any chance you started Artemisinin recently? That happened to me my first few months on Art, including heavy spotting and clots between my period.

Went to my gyno and there was nothing wrong, and it stopped after a few months.

Sue,

I was always regular like clockwork and rather light flow. Over the past eight to twelve months, just as graphic and irregular.

Now anywhere from 19-28 days and start all over. I know menstrual irregularities are listed as a symptom.

As far as the Heparin flush to your port. That is a minute amount that shouldn't be enough to heparinize your system, simply to keep your port patent.

Hi,

I am in my 5th month of treatment and until my 3 month or so, my period was ALL clots. It was getting really bad, and now it is gone and things are normal again. I do have a small fibroid, so have longer periods, but at least the clotting is gone. Hopefully it will improve with treatment for you too.

Take Care
