Hi,

I have been reading posts of people taking only Ceftin for lyme treatment. Is this effective?

I remember redaing that this could cause cell deficient wall Bb. Is this true??

If Ceftin is effective alone, what dose and how often does Dr. C prescribe.
Thanks,
aunty

Hi Aunty,

Ceftin alone didn't do squat for me, until Biaxin was added. I understand that A. can't take the Biaxin; hope she's feeling better.

I don't remember the dosages, but my doc tends to prescribe conservatively.

Best wishes,

Sue

Aunty,
I take 1000mg of Ceftin daily along with Nystatin 2 pills 4 times a day.I've only been on ita little more than 2 weeks and havent been able to tell much difference as of yet.Dr.C says to give them at least 4 weeks before going on to something else.I sure will keep y'all posted though.Take care and God bless

I have been on ceftin by itself for 6 weeks and will be going to zithromax tomorrow. The first month on ceftin I felt better but then I think I went backwards.

Improvement is possible but unlikely. It is not a strong medication for LD.

Actually, Ceftin is a strong medication for Bb and is presribed solo often as a clean-up after IV Rocephin (same family of drug). I took Ceftin alone afte IV and did quite well on it but, I was not cured. That is because I developed Systemic Candida and we had not treated for Babesiosis. Ceftin will not touch the co-infections, as far as I know.

Ceftin was the last abx I took, for two months and at low dose.

It knocked my lyme into la la land for four months.

Got candida to clear now.
