I haven't been able to use the Search function since I joined in January. And a lot of people have said the same. I don't know what's going on though. It would be really useful to have it working.

I tried it this afternoon on a brand new relatively fast computer -- and it "timed out" - took too much time to work, my results never did come up -- this is the first time I've had trouble with it ever. So no, it isn't working properly.

Sometimes it works for me, sometimes not.

Dan suggested that one way to cope with this is to narrow the search to one forum at a time, and if you know the topic was discussed recently, don't use the all-encompassing time period, just 30 days or 5 days or whatever.

The other thing that would help is for people to post on the correct forum so medical is not so overwhelmed. (hint, hint)

I got it to work yesterday...twice. WOW! I have high speed and it still takes awhile. Narrowing down the search does help. Seems to help alot if you know who posted the topic....but we don't always know that!!!

I have a very high speed connection and I have tried searching many times, day and night, even middle of the night and nothing, It times out.

I hate having to ask questions that have been asked and answered before but since I can't use search I have no choice.

The Site Search link does work but doesn't seem to include the flash board

I can't get on either..It takes longer to load than my computer will allow..Think that is the times out problem..

I was once told by a moderator that most things are probably on a Google search if you can figure out how to word it...

A google search won't pick up messages on the message board.

I don't know why they can't fix the search function here? If they put a google search on the board, it would pick up messsages here. Lots of boards have google search boxes that will search the site itself.

I posted on this a few weeks ago and encouraged everyone to write to the webmaster.

The recommendations made by the person overseeing the site didn't work, and for me, the search still isn't working despite high speed internet.

I don't know why this can't be resolved. I have given up trying since there was nothing else to do except to notify the webmaster.

If anyone else has any connections here, we would all sure appreciate the intervention.

I agree, its frustrating. I feel bad asking questions that I know were probably brought up many times but if I can't do a search to see the posts then thats no good right?
